Eight Republicans joined with the Democrats on Monday to vote against the impeachment of Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The vote in favor of a Motion to Refer effectively tabled H.R. 863, the resolution to impeach Mayorkas offered by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia, and sent it back to committee:
There were also 12 “No Votes” from each party.
🚨Marjorie Taylor Greene’s impeachment resolution of Mayorkas has been referred back to the Homeland Security Committee.

As reported by Fox News’ Bill Melugin:“Impeachment of Mayorkas is literally the lowest hanging fruit and we are fu**ing it up. Some of these people want to have endless hearings and do nothing. I can’t see how [we] can’t deliver one damn win,”
Marjorie Taylor Greene earlier in the day had made an impassioned plea to impeach Mayorkas.
“Our border is wide open and Americans are dying everyday. It’s time for Congress to hold the Biden administration accountable,” she said. “It’s time to IMPEACH Mayorkas.”
“Tonight, the House will vote on the Democrat motion to table (kill) my articles of impeachment against Mayorkas,” she continued. “Every Republican should stand strong and vote AGAINST the motion.”
“A vote to table is a vote with Democrats to protect Mayorkas and against impeachment,” she added.
It is not exactly a vote of confidence in these 20 Republicans that they can’t show up to vote against the continuation of the historic Biden border crisis.
The GOP needs to do something besides talk or the party will risk the 2024 elections, just like it squandered the last three national elections.
