Several well-known NFL stars came out following the assassination of conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, at an event in Utah on Wednesday, to express their anger at the tragedy. Kirk, 31, died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Kirk was hit with a single bullet while talking with a crowd at the school, located in Orem. He collapsed to the ground immediately following the shot and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Two suspects were initially arrested by law enforcement; however, it was later revealed that neither one of them was Kirk’s shooter. A manhunt to capture the suspect has been underway, led by the FBI and Utah police.

Jaxson Dart, quarterback for the New York Giants, who hails from the city of Kaysville, Utah, expressed his disgust after watching the viral video clip of Kirk’s death. He wrote a post on social media referring to Kirk as a person who “did great things for our country.”

Dart, a rookie, posted on his Instagram story, along with a video of the shooting, which he later deleted, “This is some bulls*** man!!! Absolutely sickening!!!”

Continuing to rant about the incident, Dart then posted, “Praying for him and his family,” adding a heartbroken emoji, after sharing a picture of Kirk holding one of his kids. “Charlie did great things for our country!! Political violence NEEDS TO STOP!!”

“Pray for our country, man. This is disgusting and Sad!!!”

He also shared a post published by Team Trump, which said, “Pray for Charlie Kirk,” and added, “May God watch over him and his family!”

Lamar Jackson, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, didn’t directly mention the incident, but reposted a somber reflection from former NFL great Torrey Smith alluding to it.

“Celebrating the death of someone you don’t share the same beliefs as is wild. Seeing it play out in real time is disgusting,” it read.

Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, spoke about the heinous murder, saying, “Thank you for your strong witness for Christ @charliekirk11.”

“Thank you for pursuing truth and leading your family as a husband and father. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen,” his post continued, The Daily Mail reported.
