Hilarious! Cowboy Owner Jones Trolls Bad NFL Officials, Tests Leagues Sense of Humor With Halloween Costume Prank

Things are going pretty well in Big D these days. Despite quarterback Dak Prescott’s broken thumb and a Swiss cheese offensive line, the Boys have managed to cobble together a 6-2 record and are in sniffing distance of the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. Now that the line is showing some cohesiveness and Dak is back, it’s all good times in Jerry-World. At least it was until Jerry Jones decided to poke a stick at the bear that IS the NFL.

For context, the NFL, also sometimes known as the No Fun League, doesn’t take kindly to owners or players poking fun at the referees. This isn’t to say the refs don’t often deserve it. After all, the officiating is just this side of shameful most Sundays, bordering on outright absurd others. However, the league has made it clear that teams aren’t to criticize the zebras, even when it is warranted. This Halloween, Jerry Jones decided to take on the league and have a little fun, dressing up as a blind ref. The next move is the leagues, and my guess is Jerry needs to get his check writing hand warmed up. Check this out.

Billionaire Jerry Jones’ wallet could become slightly lighter if the NFL decides to fine him for his Halloween costume.

The longtime owner of the Dallas Cowboys dressed up as a “blind referee” for Halloween.

The costume featured Jones in a striped referee shirt, sunglasses and a walking stick.

What is wrong with a little fun at the leagues expense? After all Jerry is an owner. He is upper management. It’s not as if a player is trolling the league openly about the horrid state of officiating affairs.

Likely the league will throw a flag on this one.

The photo of Jones in the outfit was posted to his niece’s social media account.

Jerry needs to remember that these kids and their Snap-book and Face-chat and Inst-time are going to post everything! After the million dollar fine, I expect Jerry will be scaling back Christmas, particularly where his niece is concerned. Awkward!

Never one to back down or apologize, Jones bragged of the outfit to Sports Illustrated.

“Oh yeah, I had the cane and everything,” Jones told Sports Illustrated Sunday in reference to the outfit. “And I used it on some people, too.”

Jones seemed to not take the costume seriously, but coaches and team officials are prohibited by the NFL from criticizing referees.

If Jerry had his way, I suspect he would be on the sideline, cane in hand Jimmy Hart, Mouth-of-the-South style waiting to distract and tune up a ref. Or maybe I watch too much wrestling.

A league memo from 2019 addresses potential penalties for the following:

“Comments regarding the quality of officiating, individual calls or missed calls, the League’s officiating department, an officiating crew, or an individual game official; [a]ccusing game officials of acting with bias or in any way questioning the integrity of NFL game officials; or [p]osting negative or derogatory/demeaning content pertaining to officiating on social media.”

Either way, Jones is about to back a Brinks truck up to the league’s door. Jerry is going to need a trainer and ice tub for his writing hand. Oh well, he has the cash, the message was sent and received, and we all had a good laugh, which is better than the alternative in Big D.
