In classic Trump fashion, the president delivered a brutal on-the-spot takedown to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins during Tuesday’s meeting with the press, shutting down the liberal network’s star reporter with five simple words.

The mic-drop moment came as Trump opened the floor to questions from the press. Without waiting to be called on, Collins interjected with a question about Trump’s national security advisor. Big mistake.

“You said that your national security advisor learned a lesson after a reporter…” Collins said before being interrupted.

“Excuse me, I didn’t pick you,” Trump snapped, shooting her down.

Collins backed off—but the internet lit up.

Collins has had a tense and frequently combative relationship with President Trump. She often clashed with him during his first term, most notably when she was barred from a 2018 press event and later called a “nasty person” during a 2023 CNN town hall.

Trump has continued to criticize Collins and CNN over the years, most recently taking a jab at a 2025 press conference where he said the network had “no credibility.”
