‘I Like Him’: Trump Press Briefing Interrupted By Man Yelling ‘Trump 2028!”
During a press conference in the briefing room at the White House, President Donald Trump received a comment that differed from what he was used to in the Brady Room. On Friday, a reporter mentioned during the event that there are now zero crossings at the border.
That prompted a cameraman to scream, “TRUMP 2028!” with throaty enthusiasm. The president replied, “Who is that guy?! I like him.”
Of course, according to the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, the commander-in-chief can only serve a total of two terms in office, so legally speaking, President Trump cannot run again in 2028. Before the 22nd Amendment, when our nation was first founded, President George Washington set the precedent for leaders of the country to serve 8 years.
This was the length of time he served before voluntarily relinquishing power, which left leaders around the world stunned. After that, most presidents followed his example, until Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who served three terms. His performance in office, many believe, is the reason for the 22nd Amendment.
Normally, during events such as these, the president ends up in spats with reporters from left-leaning news networks like CNN, MSNBC, or the Associated Press.
Earlier this year, Trump kicked reporters with the Associated Press out of the Oval Office for refusing to refer to the body of water formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico by its new name, the Gulf of America. President Trump admitted that it was a move intended to target the publication’s editorial policy.
“We’re going to keep them out until such time as they agree that it’s the Gulf of America,” Trump went on to say. “We’re very proud of this country, and we want it to be the Gulf of America.”
The comment was the first time he addressed the issue after banning the AP from the White House. When two journalists from a news outlet attempted to enter Mar-a-Lago for an event, they were denied entry. However, they were allowed to watch a live feed of it, but were not able to ask questions.
Political pundits believe that Trump’s refusal to play ball with left-leaning media outlets that have biased coverage against him and his supporters is one of the reasons he got elected president.
