‘I Was Forced To The Ground!’: Senator Breaks Down In Tears While Recounting His Arrest

Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) tried his hardest during a speech on the Senate floor to squeeze out some tears in order to garner sympathy after being arrested while seemingly attempting to rush DHS Secretary Kristi Noem during a press conference several days ago.

“I was forced to the ground,” Padilla said, his voice wavering. “First on my knees, and then flat on my chest. And as I was handcuffed and marched down a hallway, repeatedly asking why I was being detained, not once did they tell me why.”

The senator then added, “I pray you never have a moment like this. But I tell you, in that moment, a lot of questions came to my mind.”

“Where are they taking me? I know I’m not just being escorted out of the building. Am I being arrested here? And what will a city already on edge from being militarized think when they see their United States senator handcuffed just for trying to answer a question,” he finished.

Ben Shapiro said the whole arrest was a stunt that reveals the strategy the left is trying to use to beat President Donald Trump: attention-seeking.

“[Padilla] basically just rushed in and started yelling at her, yelling at her questions, and security appears not to know who he is,” Shapiro said as he weighed in on Padilla’s arrest. “It’s not like he cleared his presence with security.”

The incident happened during a press conference in California where Noem was giving updates about deportation activities by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the area. Sen. Padilla’s very brief detainment received condemnations from his colleagues in the Democratic Party.

“Let’s be clear: Democrats are all looking for attention right now. Everything is about attention-seeking,” the Daily Wire co-founder said. “If you think of Democrats, at this point, as a series of 5-year-olds who are desperate for mommy’s attention, then their behavior starts to make a lot more sense.”

One example Shapiro presented was New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker. In April, Booker set the new record for the longest filibuster speech in the history of the Senate. He also brought up an incident involving Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from 2022 in which she mimicked being put in handcuffs while being arrested for blocking traffic just outside the Supreme Court.

“The Democrats are solely reliant still on this idea that whoever resists Trump the most strongly wins, that all you have to do is just yell at orange man bad and yell at members of the orange-man-bad cabinet, and that will somehow result in a magical victory for Democrats,” Shapiro added.

“I don’t know what they’re thinking,” he concluded. “They’ve tried this now for a full decade. If your strategy isn’t working after a full decade, you might want to try a different strategy.”
