Iconic US Company Scrambles To Avoid ‘Bud Light Treatment’ After Shocking Anti-ICE Policy Is Exposed
A Minnesota hotel that turned away federal immigration agents earlier this month is now backtracking, issuing an apology and admitting the refusal violated company policy after the Department of Homeland Security accused Hilton of deliberately blocking law enforcement.
Hilton and the local operators of the Hampton Inn Lakeville moved quickly to distance themselves from the incident, apologizing within hours and insisting the decision did not reflect corporate standards.
The controversy erupted after DHS posted screenshots on social media showing a message sent Friday from a Hilton email address informing immigration agents that they would not be allowed to stay at the hotel roughly 20 miles south of Minneapolis. The message said their reservation had been canceled.
“When officers attempted to book rooms using official government emails and rates, Hilton Hotels maliciously CANCELLED their reservations,” DHS wrote, accusing the hotel chain of undermining and impeding immigration enforcement.
DHS further alleged the refusal appeared to be part of a “coordinated” effort to deny service to its employees.
Hilton responded by stressing that while Hampton Inn operates under its brand, the Lakeville property is independently owned and operated. A Hilton spokesperson said the company had contacted the hotel and received assurances the incident violated internal policies.
“We have been in direct contact with the hotel, and they have apologized for the actions of their team, which was not in keeping with their policies,” the spokesperson said.

Everpeak Hospitality, which operates the Lakeville hotel, echoed that explanation in its own statement.
“Everpeak Hospitality has moved swiftly to address this matter as it was inconsistent with our policy of being a welcoming place for all,” the company said. “We are in touch with the impacted guests to ensure they are accommodated. We do not discriminate against any individuals or agencies and apologize to those impacted.”

Hampton Inn is one of Hilton’s largest brands, with most locations owned and run by franchisees rather than the corporation itself.
The incident comes as immigration enforcement activity continues across the Minneapolis area, heightening tensions around federal operations in Minnesota.
