Ilhan Omar Raked Over The Coals For Calling Americans ‘Stupid’

President Donald Trump only got elected a second time because of the growing “stupidity” of Americans and members of Congress, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) surmised in her latest appearance on MSNBC.

The “Squad” Democrat is taking heat online for her comments insinuating that the Republican’s election in November is the product of a less intelligent country, one she sees the effects of every day when speaking with her colleagues and constituents.

“These people are just idiots,” Omar said, shaking her head while speaking with host Ari Melber. Smiling wanly, she added, “I’m at the point where it’s become hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity they are displaying every single day is frankly embarrassing, not just in Congress but as Americans.”

The inability of far-left Democrats to grasp President Trump’s appeal is a well-worn theme of the 2024 election and its fallout. In Minnesota, the state Omar migrated to, Trump closed the gap against former Vice President Kamala Harris to 4 points from 7 points in 2020. Trump even managed to win the home county of Gov. Tim Walz, her running mate.

But all that be damned, according to Omar.

“The fact that these people are allowed to say the most ridiculous things tells you that the dumbing of the United States has arrived, because how else did we get the Trump presidency again?” she asked Melber.

Matt Walsh, a conservative influencer, shared the clip while ripping into the Minnesota Democrat for dumping on the country that took her in after she fled war-torn Somalia as a teen.

“It continues to amaze me that Ilhan Omar has such contempt for our country. She comes from Somalia, where the average IQ is 68 (likely due at least in part to the prevalence of in-breeding in her culture). It also consistently ranks as one of the most violent and dangerous and poorest countries on Earth. Yet she looks at our country with snobbish disdain,” he wrote on X.

Part of Rep. Omar’s appearance on the friendly liberal network was ostensibly to push back against the recent news appearing to confirm that she legally married her brother, flouting federal immigration laws in a bid to help him stay in the U.S. A member of Minnesota’s Somali community came forward alleging that Omar hid her marriage to her “effeminate” brother by seeking out a Catholic priest to conduct the ceremony rather than a Muslim one, as she had done with her first husband.

She has previously chastised the “baseless, absurd” rumors about marrying her brother, accusing Republicans and other political foes of racism and Islamophobia by furthering the claim.

The New York Post reported last month that the FBI has launched an investigation into Omar’s marriage to Elmi, with a “trove of documents” reportedly being handed over to agents.

Any findings would be shared with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement. The penalty for falsifying a marriage to skirt immigration laws is up to five years in jail and a $250,000 fine.

Earlier this month, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) circulated a petition calling for signatures to deport Omar.

“America would be a better place if Ilhan Omar were deported back to Somalia,” Rep. Gill wrote in an email to supporters, citing Omar’s recent advice to illegal immigrants on how to avoid capture by ICE.
