Ilhan Omar’s ‘Dark Woke’ Response To Latest Scandal Backfires: ‘Kiss Your Brother’
“Squad” Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) “dark woke” message to her haters backfired online as critics challenged her to wash her mouth out with soap for hurling expletives at a conservative reporter who asked about Democrats’ recent trips to El Salvador.
Video of the Minnesota Democrat strolling through Washington, D.C. on Thursday ignited an uproar after she broke with the usual decorum of silent treatment and told a reporter with the Daily Caller to “f*** off” for asking whether more of her far-left colleagues plan to visit “Maryland man” Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador’s supermax prison.
Asked once more whether she meant what she said, Omar repeated her hateful words before an aide jumped in to block the camera.
Omar, writing on X and quoting the video shared by Libs of TikTok, she wrote, “I said what I said. You and all your miserable trolls can f*ck off.”
That didn’t sit well with other users who took a shot at the lawmaker over allegations she married her brother to help him obtain student loans.
“Wow. You kiss your brother with that mouth?” one person replied.
Others reflected on the state of Congress today, saying Omar’s conduct is only a symptom.
“Ilhan Omar’s meltdown isn’t just unprofessional it’s a clear sign of how far standards have fallen in Congress,” another said.
Libs of TikTok, founded by conservative influencer Chaya Raichik, fired back, “You committed fraud. The hammer of Justice is coming. Tick tock.”
The shameful saga is just the latest in a string of self-owning errors by Omar, an immigrant who earned her citizenship in 2000 and won a seat in Congress in 2018. She rose from relative obscurity to the front page of news outlets everywhere after establishing the informal “Squad” of minority Democratic lawmakers most frequently associated with far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Omar, however, has had the greatest ability to draw negative headlines for her antics. Earlier this year, a member of Minnesota’s Somali community came forward, confirming that Omar asked a priest outside of the community’s Muslim network to help her marry her biological brother so that he would qualify for student loans and stay in the U.S.
The lawmaker has not directly commented on the allegations, which have percolated since her first campaign, but continues to denounce legitimate criticisms as race-based attacks on her for speaking truth to power. The latest outburst appears to show that Omar is quickly becoming more impatient with the prolonged attention that has dogged her for most of the past six months.
In March, she appeared to shove a young Fox News reporter after he asked why she and other Democrats refused to applaud President Donald Trump’s promise to keep biological men out of women’s sports. And just a month earlier, she drew heat for referring to Americans as “stupid” for electing Trump.
The New York Post reported in January that the FBI has launched an investigation into Omar’s marriage to her brother, with a “trove of documents” reportedly being handed over to agents.
Any findings would be shared with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement. The penalty for falsifying a marriage to skirt immigration laws is up to five years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) has circulated a petition calling for Omar’s deportation.
“America would be a better place if Ilhan Omar were deported back to Somalia,” Rep. Gill wrote in an email to supporters, citing Omar’s recent advice to illegal immigrants on how to avoid capture by ICE.
