‘I’m Really Into This’: Trump Shares Heartwarming Moment With Kids At Easter Egg Roll
Surrounded by children coloring and laughing on the South Lawn, President Donald Trump appeared completely at ease Monday during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll — even joking about his coloring challenges.
“I’m really into this,” Trump said with a grin, leaning over a coloring sheet. “It’s tough, though. We don’t have a white crayon… What am I gonna do? Leave it, I guess. Leave the whole thing white.”
The moment, captured on video, quickly circulated online as part of a broader show of warmth and tradition during one of the most iconic events in White House history.
First Lady Melania Trump joined him in hosting the event, which welcomed approximately 40,000 attendees to the South Lawn on Monday. It marked the first Easter Egg Roll since Trump returned to office.
Margo Martin, deputy communications director, shared the viral moment of Trump coloring with the caption: “President @realDonaldTrump coloring with the kids at the White House Easter Egg Roll!” The clip shows Trump surrounded by young attendees, joking, smiling, and soaking in the festive atmosphere.

In addition to the classic egg rolling races and the popular egg hunt, this year’s festivities included a mini Declaration of Independence signing booth and a costume station where children dressed up as Founding Fathers. The nods to America’s approaching 250th anniversary in 2026 were woven throughout the event.
The American Egg Board provided more than 30,000 hand-dyed eggs. Organizers also included “chirping eggs” to help visually impaired children participate fully in the event.
Tickets were distributed through an online lottery, free of charge. Each child 13 and under received a commemorative wooden egg — continuing a keepsake tradition dating back decades.
The Easter Egg Roll, which began in 1878 under President Rutherford B. Hayes, has grown into a massive spring celebration. And on Monday, it offered a rare window into Trump’s more relaxed side.

You know that Democrats will now criticize President Trump for saying he wanted a white crayon.

If nothing else, we have a POTUS you can trust around kids, and that’s a major improvement.

President Trump always puts family first and understands the value of simple moments. That’s true leadership—connecting with the people, not just politics.
