‘Imbecile’: Squad Democrat Under Fire For Ridiculous Comments On JD Vance
A Democrat lawmaker is facing backlash after making an embarrassingly uninformed comment about Vice President JD Vance, exposing her own ignorance on the world stage.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), a member of the progressive “Squad,” took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to mock Vance, seemingly unaware that the vice president was delivering a major international address at the AI Action Summit in Paris.
“So name one thing y’all have seen about JD Vance & what he is up to,” Crockett posted to her 400,000 followers. “I was watching clips of Trump & Elon in the Oval Office and thought this is weird, but uhhh even more odd is that he clearly has a partner in crime… it just doesn’t seem to be the flunky he ran with.”
Unbeknownst to Crockett, Vance was engaged in a separate global conference.
Vance was meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, along with CEOs from leading tech companies. They were gathered to discuss the Trump administration’s strategic vision for artificial intelligence.
At the summit, Vance outlined the U.S. administration’s commitment to setting a global standard for artificial intelligence.

Yet, despite these high-level discussions and policy leadership, Crockett—seemingly oblivious to Vance’s diplomatic efforts—attempted to undermine him with the flippant remark.
Critics quickly criticized Crockett’s post as yet another example of left-wing lawmakers’ focus on social media grandstanding rather than staying informed on world affairs.
“When you are the dumbest person in congress (congrats), better not to let everyone know by posting stuff like this,” one user wrote on X.
“You sound scared,” wrote another.
“Honestly, when one of the dumbest members of congress decides to take that difficult first step of admitting her lack of intelligence we should consider applauding her efforts,” another comment read.
The Squad has become the informal name for a group of progressive Democrats in Congress, initially formed in 2019 by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley. Over time, other left-wing representatives, including Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush, Summer Lee, and Jasmine Crockett, have been associated with the group.
Other notable moments from the Squad include when Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed the world would end in 12 years without her Green New Deal—an absurd prediction.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) had previously downplayed 9/11 as “some people did something,” minimizing the loss of nearly 3,000 lives.
In 2023, former Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) accused Republicans of racism but was caught pulling a fire alarm to stall a vote.
The latest blunder from Crockett, however, follows a pattern of progressive lawmakers embarrassing themselves in their attempts to take cheap shots at Trump’s administration. Democrats appear more interested in performative outrage than policy leadership.
