Comedian, podcaster, and UFC commentator Joe Rogan blasted White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during a recent episode of his podcast, saying, when speaking to fellow comedian Duncan Trussell, that Jean-Pierre has engaged in “incredible gaslighting” and that her defense of the president has made everyone hate her.
Beginning his discussion of KJP with Trussell, Joe Rogan began by commenting on her job and comparing it to being like a defense attorney, saying:
“If you’re a lawyer, your job is not to make a judgment in your head. ‘I think maybe this guy’s lying and maybe he did it.’ Your judgment is to try to get your client off.
“And that’s why a lot of defense attorneys, man, that’s a slippery fucking weird world to be in. Well, don’t you think it’s the same way in the government? If you’re that poor lady who’s the White House press secretary?”
Trussell, replying to Rogan, called the press secretary position the “Worst job on Earth.”
Rogan, agreed with Trussell that the press secretary position is an awful one. He then continued his point about KJP, saying that the press secretary gets all the hate directed the president’s way, said:
“It’s the fucking worst job. It’s the worst job. You get all the hate of the president and none of the power. Like f***ing everybody hates you.”
Trussell agreed with Rogan, saying “You’re like a punching bag. You just have to absorb that every day.”
Rogan continued, saying:
“And you’re under like, extreme stress. You’re a person — like no one knows who you are. All of a sudden you have to speak publicly for the country. That is such an insane role. And to be young, like this lady who’s doing it now, like, how old is she? 30 something?”
After finding out that Jean-Pierre is 48, Rogan was shocked and said that she was very healthy.
The two then continued their discussion, bringing up when Jean-Pierre had to attempt to explain away President Biden looking for the deceased Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN), at a recent White House event, asking, “Where’s Jackie?”
Joking about Jean-Pierre’s “top of mind” excuse for Biden’s seemingly senile behavior, Rogan accused Jean-Pierre of “incredible gaslighting,” saying:
“’Top of mind. She was top of mind.’ I mean, it was really like the — it was like for what she had to work with, it was some incredible gaslighting. Top of mind’s a good one because it’s nonsense.”
Then, after Trussell commented that KJP probably hadn’t come up with the “top of mind” excuse on her own, Rogan agreed, saying:
“I think that exactly is probably what happens. There’s probably some consultation on what’s the best phrasing … So that’s her job, just like a defense attorney. It’s their job to try to get their client off. That’s her job.”
