Investigators Release Images Of Would-Be Trump Assassin’s Sniper’s Nest
Federal investigators have released photos of would-be Trump assassin Ryan Wesley Routh’s firing position outside Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course.
Routh, 58, set up position near the fifth hole of the former president’s golf course while he was playing a round on Sunday. The former president’s schedule was not known to the public, leading to speculation as to how Routh was able to obtain Trump’s location.
Routh was spotted by a Secret Service advance team positioned ahead of the former president, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. It is standard practice for an advance team to be placed on the following holes ahead of the president as he makes his way around the course, Bradshaw explained.

When a Secret Service agent spotted a gun sticking out from a patch of shrubbery, the agent opened fire, causing the would-be assassin to flee. An eyewitness was able to obtain a description of the suspect, as well as his black SUV, as he fled the scene.
Routh was soon arrested in nearby Martin County and was described as having a “calm” demeanor by Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder. Routh was not armed at the time of his arrest, and the FBI has confirmed that he is the suspect in the second attempt on former President Trump’s life in just over 60 days.
Investigators have released photos of the “AK-47-style rifle” that was recovered from the scene, as well as images of Routh’s firing position.
The gunman reportedly found a spot around the outside of the course and stuck the barrel of the rifle through a hole in the fence. He had also set up two backpacks at the scene, as well as a GoPro camera.
Investigators believe he intended to film the assassination of a former president and current Republican candidate.
Routh’s rifle appeared to be fitted with a scope, according to photos released by investigators.
Routh’s social media pages were filled with pro-Ukraine content, and it appears that the suspected gunman has travelled to the war-torn nation within the last two years.
He claimed to be raising money to recruit U.S. military veterans to fight in Ukraine and boasted that he could send 1,000 fighters to Ukraine overnight. He also claimed he was raising money to send troops to Haiti, North Korea and Taiwan.
Routh’s X feed was also filled with anti-Trump content, who he labeled as a “threat to Democracy,” echoing common left-wing anti-Trump rhetoric. Records indicate that the suspected gunman has donated to the progressive fundraising arm ActBlue on numerous occasions and supported the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020.
