Iran Issues Ominous Assassination Threat To Trump

Iran’s security chief issued an ominous warning to President Donald Trump, telling him to “be careful not to be eliminated” after Trump said the regime’s newly installed supreme leader would not be able to “live in peace.”

The threat came as Trump ramped up his rhetoric over Iran’s blockade pressure in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s leadership shakeup, warning the Islamic Republic it could face far more punishing strikes if it keeps choking off tanker traffic.

Trump has repeatedly framed the Strait of Hormuz as a red line, warning Iran to brace for “death, fire and fury” if it continues keeping the channel effectively closed.

He also took direct aim at Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, saying he was “not happy with the appointment” and warning the hardline cleric would be unable to “live in peace.”

Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani responded by brushing off Trump’s comments and firing back with a direct warning.

Iran “is not afraid of your empty threats,” Larijani said.

He added: “Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Be careful not to be eliminated!”

Larijani’s warning comes against the backdrop of heightened U.S. security concerns over Iranian assassination plotting. Just days ago, an Iranian-linked operative was convicted in connection with an alleged assassination attempt targeting Trump during the 2024 presidential race, according to the report.

Asif Merchant, a Pakistani national described as trained by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was found guilty Saturday. The plot was described as retaliation for the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani during Trump’s first term.

According to the report, Merchant traveled to the United States in April 2024 after spending time in Iran and attempted to set up political assassinations, including against Trump. He allegedly contacted an acquaintance, Nadeem Ali, a former U.S. military translator, who alerted the FBI and became an informant. Merchant admitted the IRGC sent him to the U.S. to carry out the killings, the report said.

Trump, meanwhile, has shown no signs of backing down. In a Truth Social post, he warned Iran that any move to halt oil traffic through Hormuz would trigger a devastating U.S. response.

“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” he wrote.

Iran has threatened to expand the conflict if strikes continue, while claiming it is prepared to keep attacking “as long as needed and as long as it takes.”

The standoff is now a dangerous mix of military pressure, global economic stakes and personal threats. Trump is warning Iran it will be hit harder than ever. Iran is answering with a line aimed straight at the president: “Be careful not to be eliminated!”
