Jamie Foxx Reveals Cause of Sudden Hospitalization That Left Fans Fearing for His Life
Actor Jamie Foxx has opened up about the life-altering moment when he knew something was going terribly wrong inside his body, forcing him to seek hospitalization last year in a desperate bid to save his life.
The Oscar-winning actor recently met with fans outside a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona to explain the origins of a “medical complication” last year that sidelined him in his prime. “Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil,” Foxx said before snapping his fingers in a video clip obtained by Fox News. “I was gone for 20 days.”

Whether Foxx ever found out exactly what condition he suffered from remains a mystery. The “Ray” actor did not disclose what his doctors hypothesized may have happened to him. “I don’t remember anything,” he continued. “So they told me – I’m in Atlanta – they told me, my sister and my daughter, they took me to the first doctor and they said… ‘nah,’ gave me a cortisone shot. The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there.’ I won’t say it on camera, I won’t say it on camera. But it was …” Foxx said contemplatively.
The 56-year-old actor has cautiously made his way back into public view since the health scare, posting a video message last July thanking his fans for his patience and well-wishes. “I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” he said in an Instagram post at the time. “I know a lot of people were waiting, or wanting to hear updates, and to be honest with you – I just didn’t want you to see me like that.
“I’ve been sick, man, but now, I’ve got my legs under me, so you’re going to see me out,” he said. “I’m here on Earth because of some great people. I’m here on Earth because of God.”
Connie Foxx, his daughter, was the first to reveal last April that something was wrong. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” she wrote on social media at the time. “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
According to IMDB, Foxx has eight projects in production including a much-anticipated biopic of prize fighter Mike Tyson. He has launched his own whiskey brand as well, a lifelong ambition that he got to work on in the past year after finding a new appreciation for life.
“I’ve learned that life is precious, which is why it’s so important for us to go after what we want,” Foxx said.
