Jasmine Crockett Blasted For ‘Dumbest’ Comment Yet About Cops
In the mind of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), police officers are not put on the street to stop crime.
That absurd observation may be the “dumbest” yet uttered by the “Squad” Democrat, who said during a recent interview that the point of law enforcement “isn’t to prevent crime.” Instead, she goes on, it’s about solving them.
“I want to be clear that, like, law enforcement isn’t to prevent crime. Law enforcement solves crime, OK? That is what they are supposed to do. They are supposed to solve crimes, not necessarily prevent them from happening per se,” she said on the “Grounded” podcast, which premiered last Wednesday.
Crockett, one of the progressive wing’s most outspoken and polarizing figures, shared her opinion while discussing the end to a federal takeover in Washington, D.C. President Donald Trump has celebrated the 30-day operation as a rousing success amid plummeting crime statistics in the nation’s capital.
“I think it has been terrible,” the lawmaker said about Trump’s use of the National Guard to put soldiers in the streets.
“How is it that we have a government that is hostile towards its people? ‘Cause that’s what it is. Like, I mean, we are in the midst of a hostile government takeover, and it is our government that is like, bringing the hostility.”
Unlike local police, Crockett went on, ICE officers and National Guard soldiers aren’t trained to address civilian concerns or nonviolent crimes like larceny and drug use. The point of local law enforcement is to solve crimes, not prevent them, she posited.
Critics online immediately mocked Crockett for her perceived lack of understanding about inner-city policing.
“WTF?! Jasmine Crockett: ‘Law enforcement isn’t to PREVENT crime! Law enforcement solves crime, okay? That is what they are supposed to do.’ Just when I thought Democrats couldn’t get any dumber, JASMINE CROCKETT opens her mouth again,” conservative journalist Nick Sorter wrote on X.
Scientist and author Matt Van Swol was even more caustic, writing, “Truly one of the dumbest statements ever made by anyone on planet earth.”
Alexa Henning, who serves as Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s chief of staff, called it “terrifying how stupid people get into higher office.”

Law enforcement officer and consultant Deon Joseph responded with his own video message.
“Jasmine Crockett is wrong. It is our job to prevent crime. We just need more support. I didn’t sign up to just wait for people to be victimized,” he said.
Crockett did not immediately reply to Fox News’ request for comment.
