Jasmine Crockett Goes On Wild Rant, Immediately Regrets It

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) lit up a House Judiciary Committee hearing this week with a fiery rant defending the rule of law—only to have her own words turned against her minutes later in a moment she may come to regret.

During a hearing focused on judicial overreach and the constitutional role of the courts, Crockett launched into a passionate speech blasting those who question or defy judicial rulings.

“What it means to have law and order in this country,” Crockett yelled, “is that you follow the order and go through the appeals process even if you dislike what the judge did.”

She also accused Congress of failing to check the executive branch and painted a doomsday scenario where the president acts without oversight, citing fears shared by “so many of the American people.” But just as Crockett wrapped up her remarks, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) took the microphone—and didn’t hold back.

“It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous,” Issa said. He then reminded the committee—and the American people—that Crockett had co-sponsored articles of impeachment against two Supreme Court Justices just months ago.

“For the last three hours, I’ve had to listen to one side talk about impeachment as though it was the nature of this hearing. It is not,” he explained. “But I keep looking at my friend, the late Henry Hyde, and remember—he only brought up impeachment when necessary, and never used it as a political football.”

Back in July, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) introduced impeachment articles against Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, accusing them of ethics violations. Crockett proudly signed on.

The contrast was glaring: Crockett passionately defending the judiciary one minute, then being reminded she tried to oust two sitting justices the next.

The July impeachment push, spearheaded by Ocasio-Cortez, claimed that Justices Thomas and Alito “represent nothing less than a constitutional crisis.” The articles accused the justices of failing to disclose gifts and refusing to recuse themselves from cases tied to those benefactors.

Crockett’s name appeared prominently among the co-sponsors—alongside members of the far-left “Squad” like Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Cori Bush (D-MO). Their effort was backed by liberal groups such as MoveOn, UltraViolet, and Women’s March.

So when Crockett spoke solemnly about how “the judiciary isn’t pulling this out of the sky” and that “we must respect court rulings,” her Republican colleagues saw an opening—and took it.

As of late, President Trump’s tenure has been marked by frequent confrontations with the judicial branch. He has often criticized judges who ruled against his policies.

For instance, after a federal judge issued a stay on his travel ban executive order, Trump referred to him as a “so-called judge.”
