Jasmine Crockett Melts Down After ‘Low IQ’ Jab From Trump
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) flew into a fury Sunday after President Donald Trump labeled her a “low IQ person” during a sit-down interview on Meet the Press, calling into question the rising Democrat’s intelligence and role in the party.
The moment came during Trump’s remarks about the Democratic Party’s leadership, or what he called the lack thereof. “I can’t name one Democrat,” Trump said.
“I mean, I look at the Democrats, they’re in total disarray. They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day. She’s definitely a low IQ person. She’s definitely a low IQ person.”
He doubled down, mocking media narratives that present Crockett as part of the next generation of Democratic leadership. “And they said she’s the future of the party,” Trump added.

Crockett, a freshman Congresswoman from Texas and frequent cable news guest, didn’t take long to fire back on social media. “For you to be in charge of the WHOLE country, you sure do have my name in your mouth a lot,” she wrote on X. “Every time you say my name, you’re reminding the world that you’re terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable.”
The back-and-forth comes as Crockett continues to position herself as a figure within the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. She’s drawn headlines for viral moments during House Oversight Committee hearings, where she often lashes out at GOP members and plays to the cameras.
But Trump’s jab may have struck a nerve. The phrase “low IQ” has long been one of Trump’s go-to insults for critics he sees as intellectually unserious or unqualified for office—previously used on figures like Maxine Waters and Joe Biden. For Trump’s base, it’s a familiar, brutal rhetorical flourish.
Meanwhile, Crockett has embraced the feud, casting herself as a bold truth-teller unafraid of taking on Trump directly.
