Jessica Tarlov Faces Calls For Her Firing After Stunning Comments

Jessica Tarlov, a Democratic strategist and co-host on “The Five”, is facing severe backlash for comments made earlier this week. In a visit on Fox News, Tarlov used what many on social media are calling dangerous rhetoric that could be used to incite violence against former President Donald Trump, the GOP nominee for the White House. During the interview, Tarlov said, “This is the chance to put the final nail in the coffin so that you don’t have Donald Trump on the ballot again.”

Trump has been the target of two assassination attempts, both of which happened within a 90-day period. Many folks on the political right believe what spurred these murder attempts was the vilification of the 45th president by left-wing politicians and the media.

An account named Common Sense Custodian on X replied to the video clip by saying, “Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE to speak like this. She needs to be FIRED immediately.” Another user, Mark Ivey, responded by saying, “I don’t see why they keep her on The Five. I have to check to see if she or Harold is on every night. She’s the worst.”

Here are a few more responses from X:

The former president himself has placed the blame for both attempts on his life squarely on the shoulders of President Joe Biden and the vice president, saying that their constant rhetoric used to paint him up as a threat against democracy has made people on the left feel like they have to eliminate him or else lose all their freedoms.

“Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out,” Trump said in comments to Fox News Digital, according to a report from The Associated Press.

The Republican former president’s statements are a sharp departure from how he reacted after an assassination attempt in July during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which a bullet grazed his ear. Then, Trump called for national unity, saying in a social media post that “it is more important than ever that we stand United.” A few days later, though, the former president returned to sharply criticizing Democrats and relishing the political bombast.

“While authorities continue to investigate the motives of both the gunman in Pennsylvania and the person arrested Sunday in Florida, Trump has made clear that he sees attempts on his life as politically motivated — and blames his rivals for them,” the AP added.
