Jessica Tarlov Gets Ganged Up On By ‘The Five’ For Ridiculous Suggestion
Jessica Tarlov took a moment on a recent episode of Fox News’ “The Five” to share how she thinks President Donald Trump could approach peace in the Middle East, but her proposal nearly got her laughed off the set by fellow co-hosts.
Tarlov, whose liberal point of view is tolerated as token opposition on the popular evening show, sparked controversy when she asserted that Trump should give up on the longtime dream of Palestinians for a two-state solution and pursue something more radical instead.
“The two-state solution we’ve all hoped for is still just a dream,” Tarlov began. “It’s something many have tried to achieve and failed at. Not just in the U.S. — Tony Blair devoted his career to it and couldn’t make it happen.”
The problem, she said, is that surrounding Arab nations “are not willing to absorb” Palestinians, leaving them at the mercy of living in the Israel-controlled Gaza.
“If you’re truly a humanitarian, then take those two million people to the U.S., the country you lead, and resettle them here. You can’t just force them onto other nations,” she said.
The idea that Americans would tolerate Trump importing two million Palestinians into the U.S. and offering them asylum is ludicrous, her co-hosts reacted.
“Spread them out. Maybe some can go to Greenland,” joked Jesse Watters.
Dana Perino pointed out that some countries outside of the Middle East, including Albania, have offered to accept some refugees.
“They could take a few, but you’re talking about two million people,” she told Tarlov.
The liberal co-host then criticized President Trump’s proposal to bring Gaza under U.S. control and develop it into an international destination.
“Maybe this has been in the works for a while, but you can’t just push this solution on others,” she insisted.
“We’ve funded Gaza more than any other country,” Jesse pointed out before Tarlov began talking over him. “Gaza was overrun with terrorists, but you can’t expect neighboring countries to take in millions of people they don’t want,” she explained.
The conversation came to an end when Jeanine Pirro asked, “Should we just let them live in rubble and hate everyone else?” Tarlov responded by asserting, “You can’t just make Jordan open up.”
“This is about encouraging the Arab world to take responsibility. For economic progress in that region, we need peace and a rebuilding effort in Gaza,” Pirro said, getting one last comment in before commercial break.
Watters did his best to lighten the mood at the last second.
“Instead of saying ‘No, we can’t,’ Jessica, maybe try, ‘Yes, we can,'” he told his co-host.
WATCH:
It’s unlikely that President Trump will be taking advice from Tarlov anytime soon, and neither does he need the help. He’s already winning praise from far-left media figures for securing the release of the last living American hostage in Hamas captivity, and special envoy Steve Witkoff continues to negotiate for the release of 20 living hostages and the bodies of 40 others who died since the Oct. 7, 2023, attack.
Trump has spent most of this week in the Middle East, securing deals with Saudi Arabia and Qatar that will see American manufacturers make billions of dollars in security investments that the White House asserts will contribute to lasting peace in the region.
