First Lady Jill Biden invited guests to join her for President Biden’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
Notable guests include: the husband of Nancy Pelosi, Paul Pelosi; U2 singer Paul “Bono” Hewson; Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova and about two dozen other guests.
These individuals represent issues addressed in the speech and embody the Administration’s policies. The Second Gentleman, Douglas Emhoff, will also be in attendance. To acknowledge ongoing US support for Ukraine, the First Lady has extended an invitation to the Ukrainian Ambassador, Oksana Markarova, to attend the event.
On February 25, 2021, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine appointed Oksana Markarova as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States.
Upon her appointment, Markarova stated that her top priorities were to expand cooperation and political dialogue with the Biden Administration and their bipartisan support, and to provide maximum support for the development of Ukrainian companies in the US and attract American companies to Ukraine.
Bono is a renowned activist in the fight against HIV/AIDS and poverty. He played a key role in building support for PEPFAR, a program that delivers life-saving HIV medications to poorer countries and has saved 25 million lives worldwide.
PEPFAR was announced by President Bush in his State of the Union address 20 years ago and was championed by then-Senator Biden. Bono is also the co-founder of the ONE Campaign and (RED), which work with governments to address poverty and preventable disease, and have raised over $700 million to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa, respectively.
This is breathtakingly dishonest by Dr FLOTUS. The man who attacked Paul Pelosi was a far left whackjob who lived on a hippy collective festooned with BLM and LGBTQ banners. Nothing to do with the 2021 riot at the Capitol. A preview of Joe Biden’s #SOTU gaslighting effort tonight https://t.co/UvniUbnSil pic.twitter.com/Lz5EFv62A0
