John Kerry Flips, Praises Trump On Top Issue: ‘You Have To Have A Border’
Former President Joe Biden’s climate czar and failed Democratic Party presidential candidate John Kerry confessed during an interview on Thursday that President Donald Trump was “right” concerning the southern border, going on to say Democrats let it come under siege.
“The first thing any president should say, any president, or anybody in public life, is, without a border protected, you don’t have a nation — I believe that. If you’re going to define your nation, you have to have a border that means something,” Kerry explained on the BBC’s “Reflections” podcast. “We have a system. I wish President Biden had been heard more often saying, ‘I’m going to enforce the law.'”
Kerry once served in the Obama administration as the Secretary of State and was the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in 2004. He ultimately lost that race to George W. Bush. James Naughtie, a BBC correspondent, stated during the interview that President Trump would point out Kerry’s comments and say he was correct on the issue.
“He was right,” Kerry replied. “The problem is we all should have been right. Everybody should have been right, doing the same thing, all moving in the same direction.”
Earlier in the conversation, Kerry said he told Biden the Democratic Party struck out on the issue of immigration.
“They just allowed the border to continue to be sieged, under siege,” Kerry stated plainly. He then mentioned the Biden-era immigration bill supported by Democrats, which several GOP members and Trump opposed.
Naughtie then asked the former secretary of state if Biden would have been helped by announcing earlier in the presidential race last year that he was not going to run for re-election, instead of dropping out due to pressure from other Democrats.
“I think in retrospect that’s pretty clear, it answers itself,” Kerry told Naughtie. “He’s my friend, and he did a hell of a job. I don’t think he’s gotten enough credit for what a great president he was,” he went on to say.
The issue of immigration has been the focal point of President Trump’s second term in the White House, with the administration launching a series of mass deportation operations around the country.
“Between June 1 and June 22, there were 5,414 apprehensions at the border, with the busiest sector being El Paso, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data. During that same timeframe, there have been 986 known “gotaways.” Both numbers are the lowest ever recorded,” Fox News reports.
During the month of May, there were just under 9,000 apprehensions of illegal aliens at the border. This is down from the 118,000 the previous year under Biden’s presidency.
