JUST IN: Alec Baldwin Could Face Criminal Charges As Soon as Thursday Over “Rust” Shooting

Woke actor Alec Baldwin must be having a very stressful week, as news just broke that he could be charged in the “Rust” shooting from about a year and a half ago (October of 2021) as soon as tomorrow. Such is what Fox News Digital reported, saying:

New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies will announce whether charges will be brought in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Thursday.

There will be no press conference regarding the announcement.

“Regardless of the District Attorney’s decision, the announcement will be a solemn occasion, made in a manner keeping with the office’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the judicial process and respecting the victim’s family,” Heather Brewer, spokesperson for the office of the First Judicial District Attorney, said in a statement.

The shooting on the Rust set occurred in 2021. Baldwin was apparently practicing using a Colt .45 for the movie, a Western, pointing at the camera while practicing his quickdraw for the film. Unfortunately, the revolver was loaded and so it actually fired.

Baldwin’s shot hit and killed the cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, who was 42 at the time of her death. As the cinematographer, she was behind the camera at which Baldwin was aiming while practicing his quickdraw. The director of “Rust,” Joel Souza, was also injured by the shooting.

Baldwin was apparently told by the assistant director of the film, Dave Halls, that the Colt .45 was a “cold gun,” meaning that it was unloaded and there were no live rounds in it.

The DA’s office, speaking in October about the incident, said that it would conduct a “thorough review of the information and evidence to make a thoughtful, timely decision about whether to bring charges” following a yearlong sheriff’s investigation into the on-set shooting.”

Adding irony to the shooting is that Baldwin is himself very anti-gun. He has spoken out against both the NRA and gun rights before, telling NRA personality Dana Loesch in 2018, for example, that “The Second Amendment is not a moral credit card that buys you all the guns you want. That law needs to be rethought.”

He also joined formed the “No Rifle Association Initiative” with other celebrities in 2018. That group aimed to reduce the NRA’s sphere of influence on American politics.

But then he shot someone, so his standing on “gun safety” was severely diminished.

Alec Baldwin is also one of the many Trump-hating actors in Hollywood. He played a very unflattering version of Trump on Saturday Night Live until he lost that gig following the “Rust” shooting. Trump took his revenge on Baldwin after the shooting, saying:

“He’s a troubled guy. There’s something wrong with him. I’ve watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters. He’s a cuckoo-bird. He’s a nutjob. And usually, when there’s somebody like that, you know, in my opinion, he had something to do with it.”

Tweeting about the shooting when it occurred, Baldwin said “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.
