JUST IN: Anti-ICE Shooter Identified After Dallas Rampage

Authorities in Texas have identified the man behind Wednesday’s deadly shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas. Law enforcement sources confirmed that the alleged attacker was Joshua Jahn, 29, a lone gunman who unleashed a hail of rifle fire on federal officers and detainees before turning the weapon on himself.

The violence erupted just after sunrise on Wednesday. Investigators say Jahn positioned himself on a rooftop near the ICE facility and opened fire on an unmarked transport van inside the secured sally port area. The van was carrying detainees when Jahn’s bullets tore through the vehicle. Two people were killed instantly, and a third remains in critical condition.

Police and federal officials say Jahn later took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was discovered on the rooftop with a rifle at his side.

The attack appears to have been driven by a political or ideological motive. FBI Director Kash Patel posted an image to X showing recovered rifle-caliber ammunition with an engraving that read “ANTI-ICE.” Investigators also collected unspent rounds and shell casings from the rooftop where Jahn carried out the assault.

The FBI’s Dallas field office is leading the investigation alongside local police, treating the shooting as an act of targeted political violence.

“For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed,” Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, wrote on X.

“These horrendous killings must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences,” she continued. “Comparing ICE day in and day out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences. The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer. Like everyone else, we just want to go home to our families at night.”

The Dallas assault comes amid a string of heightened threats against immigration and border-enforcement facilities across Texas. Over the past year, DHS and ICE have reported an uptick in violent rhetoric directed at agents, particularly as immigration policy continues to dominate national politics.

At a press conference, FBI Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock said the Dallas, Texas, detention center was likely targeted because the shooter had a deeply-held animosity for ICE.

“What I can also tell you is that early evidence that we’ve seen from rounds that were found near the suspected shooter contain messages that are anti-ICE in nature,” he explained.

The shooting is the second to unfold at a Texas ICE facility this year. On July 4, a group of assailants stormed an ICE facility near Fort Worth, wounding one employee in the neck. A dozen suspects were arrested in connection with the coordinated attack.

“This is just the most recent example of this type of attack,” Rothrock added.

Wednesday’s attack marks one of the deadliest acts of violence against ICE in recent years.
