JUST IN: Bomb Threat Grounds Flights At DC Airport

A reported bomb threat on a United Airlines flight briefly sent Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport into a state of panic on Tuesday, forcing a ground stop and emergency response on the tarmac.

The plane had just arrived from Houston when air traffic controllers were alerted to an “unconfirmed bomb threat,” according to flight audio, and ordered the jet to move to the edge of the runway.

Passengers were taken off the aircraft and bused to the terminal as authorities swept the scene and kept the plane isolated.

“All flight operations are being held at Reagan National while passengers on a United Airlines flight are being offloaded and bussed to the terminal,” the airport’s account posted to X. “We will provide more information as it becomes available.”

Airport officials said the runway reopened at 12:50 p.m. and normal operations resumed soon after.

“The FAA is aware of a reported security issue on an aircraft at Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA),” the agency said. “Passengers have been removed, and the aircraft is away from the terminal while authorities investigate.”

“Security issue happening at Washington Reagan airport,” GB News’ Ben Leo shared on X earlier Tuesday.

“Been sat on AA flight on tarmac in Orlando for an hour waiting to take off. Flight has been given a ‘ground stop’ by ATC. Reports suggest possible threat against United Airlines flight arriving from Houston in DC.”
