JUST IN: Bombshell Poll Shows GOP Rep. Trailing Trump-Backed Challenger
Trump-backed Republican Ed Gallrein has surged ahead of Rep. Thomas Massie in a blockbuster Kentucky GOP primary, according to a new Quantus Insights poll that’s sending shockwaves through conservative politics just days before voters head to the polls.
The new survey shows Gallrein leading Massie 48.3% to 43.1% among likely Republican primary voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, with undecided voters now shrinking to the low single digits as the May 19 primary rapidly approaches.
The numbers mark a dramatic reversal from earlier polling that showed Massie narrowly holding onto the lead despite relentless attacks from President Donald Trump and MAGA-aligned outside groups.
An earlier Quantus Insights survey released in April showed Massie leading Gallrein 46.8% to 37.7%, suggesting the race has shifted sharply in Gallrein’s favor over the past several weeks.
The primary has become one of the nastiest and most expensive House battles in modern political history, fueled by more than $25 million in outside spending and a full-court press by Trump allies determined to remove Massie from office.

Massie, a libertarian-minded Republican who has represented the Northern Kentucky-based district since 2012, has repeatedly broken with Trump on major issues, including foreign policy fights, spending bills, and disputes tied to the Epstein files controversy.
Trump endorsed Gallrein after publicly blasting Massie for opposing portions of the administration’s agenda, turning the race into a proxy war over the future direction of the Republican Party.
Gallrein, a farmer and military veteran, has leaned heavily into Trump’s endorsement while portraying Massie as out of touch with the modern MAGA movement.
The district itself heavily favors Republicans and stretches across Northern Kentucky suburbs near Cincinnati, along with parts of northeastern Kentucky.
Political observers say the outcome could become one of the clearest tests yet of Trump’s continued dominance over Republican primary voters heading into the 2026 midterm cycle.
Betting markets and previous polling had suggested Massie still maintained a path to victory only weeks ago, making the new Quantus poll particularly significant.
