JUST IN: EU Threatens Elon Musk, Vows To CENSOR Trump Interview In Stunning Letter
The European Union’s digital watchdog wrote a letter to Elon Musk on Monday, hours before a high-profile livestream interview with former President Donald Trump. The letter served as a reminder of the EU’s strict policies against promoting hate speech. This comes after Trump revealed that he would be joining Musk for a “major interview” on X, set to be broadcast live to audiences worldwide tonight.
Thierry Breton, a French business executive, politician, writer, and the current Commissioner for Internal Market and Services of the European Union, emphasized the importance of adhering to the Digital Services Act (DSA) due to Musk’s control over X, which has a significant user base in the EU. “As the individual entity ultimately controlling a platform with over 300 million users worldwide, of which one third in the EU, that has been designated as a Very Large Online Platform, you have the legal obligation to ensure X’s compliance with EU law and in particular the DSA in the EU,” Breton wrote in the letter.
“This notably means ensuring, on one hand, that freedom of expression and of information, including media freedom and pluralism, are effectively protected and, on the other hand, that all proportionate and effective mitigation measures are put in place regarding the amplification of harmful content.”
“This is important against the background of recent examples of public unrest brought about by the amplification of content that promotes hatred, disorder, incitement to violence, or certain instances of disinformation.” The letter concluded with a stern warning about the ongoing formal proceedings against X under the DSA and the possible repercussions of failing to comply. Breton urged Musk to “promptly ensure the effectiveness of your systems and to report measures taken to my team.”
With great audience comes greater responsibility #DSA
As there is a risk of amplification of potentially harmful content in 🇪🇺 in connection with events with major audience around the world, I sent this letter to @elonmusk

In July, The EU cracked down on X, accusing it of becoming a breeding ground for disinformation and illegal activity. The EU Commission levied formal charges against Musk, alleging that the site had failed to comply with European social media regulations. Under the new Digital Services Act (DSA)—a law designed to target harmful online content—the platform was threatened with a massive multi-million euro fine in what was seen as a landmark case. However, the aggressive actions may stifle innovation and free speech on the internet.
Earlier today, former President Trump made his return to X. Campaign-style posts began appearing under his official account @realDonaldTrump earlier on Monday, sparking speculation among his supporters. By 11 a.m. EST, Trump confirmed his return by posting a video message, his first since his infamous ban post-January 6 and following his 2023 mugshot release.
In a cinematic video, Trump is portrayed walking towards “the Beast,” the heavily armored presidential vehicle, while CNN’s Wolf Blitzer is heard declaring Trump’s 2016 victory. “What started off impossible, unlikely, is now reality,” Blitzer states. The video features a triumphant inauguration scene with MAGA supporters cheering as Trump promises, “I will fight for you with every breath in my body, and I will never, ever let you down.”

However, the narrative takes a dramatic turn with footage of the FBI’s unprecedented raid on Mar-a-Lago in 2022, described by commentators as a significant and controversial moment in American politics. Amid these scenes, Trump is depicted in a downpour, vehemently denying any wrongdoing and asserting his defense of the nation against destruction.
Musk is set to interview Trump later today on X. The live interview is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET.
