JUST IN: Family Of Alleged Trump Hotel ‘Bomber’ Releases Major Statement Changing Everything
The family of Matthew Livelsberger, the alleged perpetrator of the New Year’s Day explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, has released a statement questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident. Livelsberger, a 37-year-old U.S. Army veteran with a background in special forces, died in the explosion, which also injured seven bystanders and caused significant damage to the surrounding area.
In an interview with the Independent, Livelsberger’s uncle described him as a “big Trump supporter” was confused over the attack. Dean Livelsberger described his nephew as “like a Rambo-type, for lack of a better word,” in a conversation with The Independent. Dean, whose older brother and Livelsberger’s father, Roger, is an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, said that his nephew “loved the Army.”
“He used to have all patriotic stuff on Facebook, he was 100 percent loving the country,” his uncle said. “He loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American. It’s one of the reasons he was in Special Forces for so many years. It wasn’t just one tour of duty.”
Dean was aware of the explosion in Vegas but didn’t know his nephew was implicated until The Independent reached out for a comment. Initially, he speculated that the blast might have been due to “one of those big lithium batteries that short-circuited or something.”

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill provided details about the explosion during a press conference on Thursday. Matt had reportedly rented a Tesla Cybertruck in Colorado, driving it to Las Vegas before detonating an improvised explosive device constructed from liquid fuel and fireworks. The device was designed to detonate from the driver’s seat.
“Through the coroner’s office, we discovered that the individual had sustained a gunshot wound to the head prior to the detonation,” McMahill said, adding that a handgun was recovered near Matt’s body. Investigators are working to determine whether the gunshot was self-inflicted or if another individual was involved.

Dean is skeptical about the connection of his nephew Matt to the incident. “Matt was a very skilled warrior, and he would be able to make — if it was him, and if he did this — he would’ve been able to make a more sophisticated explosive than using propane tanks and camping fuel. He was what you might call a ‘supersoldier.’ If you ever read about the things he was awarded, and the experience he had, some of it doesn’t make sense, when he had the skills and ability to make something more, let’s say, ‘efficient.’ His skills were enormous from what he had been taught in the military,” he said.
His uncle suggested that if his nephew had truly intended to cause harm, he “could have fashioned a bomb that would have obliterated half of that hotel. Think of Oklahoma City,” he said. “McVeigh was just a normal soldier. Not a Tier 1 operator like Matt.”
Matt divorced his first wife, who has since moved to South Florida with her new husband. He now has a newborn with his current partner and in September, he shared a Facebook photo of himself holding the baby, Dean said. Recently, several photos Matt posted from Germany, including his proposal and the engagement ring he presented, have “disappeared,” his uncle revealed.
Matt’s father has been married multiple times and has children with several partners, Dean added, noting he has been somewhat distant from his brother for years. Despite this, Dean explained, “Matt wasn’t estranged from the family at all. Everyone thought the world of Matt.”
