FBI Releases Photos Of Brown University Shooting Suspect, Offers $50,000 Reward
Federal investigators on Monday night released new images and videos of the suspect in Saturday’s Brown University shooting just hours before the intensive manhunt for the killer entered its third full day.
The FBI released a poster with three images of a person wanted for questioning, calling them an “unknown suspect” while providing a physical description. “The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’8″ with a stocky build,” the bureau wrote in a press release.
“We sent additional resources and personnel earlier today to help track down leads, canvass neighborhoods, and develop intelligence,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote in social media post late Monday night. “Our Evidence Response Team remains on campus processing the scene, and our Lab at Quantico is assisting as well.”

Officials with the Providence Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police also released new videos of the suspect during a press conference on Monday evening. They had previously released two videos showing the suspect walking along streets surrounding the campus, though it was impossible to make out any details on facial features.
One of the videos shows the suspect calmly walking along a residential street just minutes after the shooting. Additional clips from approximately two hours before the attack show a masked figure in a dark two-tone jacket near Hope and Benevolent streets, located just off campus.
At one point in one of the new clips, the suspect can be seen slouching while placing his hands behind his back. Officials noted a potentially distinctive gait for identification.

Officials also noted that a 9mm handgun was likely used in the attack, marking the first time definitive details on a weapon had been released.
Police initially apprehended a person of interest in the case at a hotel located about 30 miles north of Providence early Sunday morning, where they recovered two firearms, one of which matched the description of the weapon used in the shooting. That person was ultimately released late Sunday night after “new evidence” pointed investigators in a different direction, however.
The update comes more than 72 hours after the gunman opened fire on a final exams review session around 4:30 p.m. local time on Saturday. Two people were killed in the attack while nine others suffered gunshot wounds.
Ella Cook, a sophomore who served as vice president of the university’s Republican Club, was identified as one of the fatalities by a priest from her Alabama parish on Sunday morning. Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, a native of Uzbekistan and aspiring neurosurgeon, has been identified as the other deceased victim.
Of the additional nine victims, all of whom are also Brown University students, six remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition, one in stable condition, while another was discharged. The other victim, identified as North Carolina native Kendall Turner, remains in critical condition as of this report.
The university on Monday evening said the Providence police were seeking interviews with everyone who had been in the Barus & Holley building — the physics and engineering center where the shooting took place — on either Friday or Saturday, according to a report from ABC News.
“Even an incidental detail may be helpful in investigating,” the school said in an update.
