JUST IN: Final Polls Reveal Neck-And-Neck Race For Crucial Office
Democrat Jay Jones and Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares are barreling toward a photo-finish showdown in Virginia — and the latest batch of polls shows this race is anyone’s game.
Jones holds a razor-thin edge in several surveys as ballots continue to be cast, but every lead falls inside the margin of error. Other polling even shows Miyares clinging to a tiny advantage — underscoring just how tight this fight has become.
Newsweek said it contacted both campaigns “outside of normal business hours.”
The contest has grabbed national attention, particularly after leaked text messages surfaced showing Jones once suggested a former Virginia House speaker should get “two bullets to the head.” The Democrat apologized, but the political fallout has clearly taken a toll on what once looked like a smooth path to victory. Whether that scandal sinks him in the final stretch remains to be seen.

Jay Jones
Three fresh polls show Jones ahead — all within statistical dead-heat territory.
An Emerson College/The Hill poll has Jones at 49% to Miyares’ 47% among likely voters. The survey questioned 880 likely voters from Oct. 30-31 and carries a margin of error of 3.2 points.
A Quantus Insights snap poll of 1,201 likely voters taken Nov. 3 found Jones leading Miyares 47.4% to 46.9%, with a 2.7-point margin of error.

Jason Miyares
InsiderAdvantage surveyed 800 likely voters between Nov. 2-3 and also gave Jones a two-point edge, 49% to 47%, with a 3.46-point margin of error.
But a Trafalgar Group poll paints a slightly different picture — showing Miyares in front, 46.3% to 45.5%, in a Nov. 1-2 survey of 1,057 likely voters, with a 2.9-point margin of error.
