JUST IN: Fox Host Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges

Matt Vereen, 28, a weekend anchor and sports reporter for WACH Fox 57 in South Carolina, has been arrested on charges relating to child pornography and child exploitation.

Vereen was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was made after law enforcement found a photo on his laptop of a child in a ‘sexually explicit state of nudity,’ according to the arrest warrant.

In the image, a young girl reportedly had her “legs spread” while her genitals were visible her genitals were visible “through sheer see-through panties,” according to the arrest warrant. Her “right nipple can also be seen through a white see through top,” the warrant added.

Vereen was identified through Gmail records, Apple records, ISP records and another record that was redacted.

Another search warrant states that Vereen solicited the purchase of a one-minute and 32-second video of an underage girl. A third warrant said he solicited another video that was one minute and 26 seconds long.

According to Vereen’s LinkedIn page, he has been working for WACH FOX 57 for nearly three years. He previously worked as a news anchor for KOLR, an outlet in Springfield, Missouri.

Alvin S. Glenn Bond Court told local outlet Wis10 that Vereen was given a $40,000 cash surety bond. The conditions of his bond include no access to personal internet, no use of social media outside of work and no contact with a minor without adult supervision.

Vereen faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
