DNA evidence tied to Tyler Robinson’s former roommate and romantic partner was found on key items recovered after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, according to testimony during the second day of Robinson’s preliminary hearing.

The revelation came Tuesday in a Provo, Utah, courtroom as prosecutors continued laying out the case against Robinson, who is accused of fatally shooting the Turning Point USA founder at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025.

Jennifer Faumina, a sergeant with the Utah Department of Public Safety who was working in the State Bureau of Investigation at the time of the shooting, read portions of a DNA report from the stand.

The report focused on evidence recovered from the campus, including a screwdriver found on the rooftop of the Losee Center for Student Success and a towel that had been wrapped around a rifle.

“Male DNA was obtained from item 7-1. Item 7-1 was interpreted as originating from two individuals, one of whom is Twiggs,” she read.

She later said, “Male DNA was obtained from item eight sub one. Item eight sub one was interpreted as originating from two individuals, one of whom is Twiggs.”

Those two items were identified as the screwdriver and the towel wrapped around the rifle.

FBI analyst Amanda Bakker also testified about DNA evidence in the case, including findings that linked Robinson and Twiggs to the towel, according to AP.

Robinson’s defense has disputed the DNA evidence and questioned its reliability.

The screwdriver was found by Officer Chris Bagley, who worked for Utah Valley University’s police department at the time of the shooting.

Bagley testified earlier that he found the tool on the rooftop of the Losee Center, where prosecutors say the fatal shot was fired.

He also found impressions in the gravel that he described as what looked like a “sniper’s pad.”

The imprint appeared consistent with someone lying in a prone position.

Prosecutors say the rooftop had a clear line of sight to the area where Kirk was speaking during the Turning Point USA event.

Surveillance video presented during the hearing allegedly tracked Robinson’s movements across campus before and after the shooting, including footage prosecutors say showed him on top of the Losee Center.

The state has also alleged that Robinson’s vehicle was captured leaving the campus after the attack.

Twiggs has become a key figure in the case, though he has not been charged.

Prosecutors have alleged that Twiggs received a written confession from Robinson after the shooting.

The court is expected to hear a previously recorded statement from Twiggs during the weeklong preliminary hearing.

Tyler Robinson has not yet entered a plea.

He faces aggravated murder and other felony charges, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty if he is convicted.

The DNA testimony added another high-stakes layer to the prosecution’s case, placing Twiggs’ name directly into the forensic evidence tied to the weapon and alleged sniper perch.
