JUST IN: General Flynn Vindicated By New Obamagate Bombshell
Newly declassified portions of a letter written by Obama advisor Susan Rice appear to suggest that General Michael Flynn was being excluded from discussions about alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The declassified email, sent by Rice to herself, vindicates Flynn, President Donald Trump’s former national security advisor, who was later charged by special counsel Robert Mueller with lying under oath during an FBI investigation. In it, Rice, who served as former President Barack Obama’s national security advisor, summarized a Jan. 5, 2017, meeting between herself, Obama, then-Deputy U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates, and former FBI Director James Comey.
“From a national security perspective, President Obama said he wants to be sure that, as we engage with the incoming team, we are mindful to ascertain if there is any reason we cannot share information fully as it relates to Russia,” Rice wrote.
At the time, members of the Obama administration were racing to finalize a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, a product that eventually suggested Trump partnered with Russian forces to win the election.
“Comey said he does have some concerns that incoming NSA Flynn is speaking frequently with Russian Ambassador Kislyak,” the email goes on in a newly disclosed portion.
“Comey said that could be an issue as it relates to sharing sensitive information.”
“President Obama asked if Comey was saying the NSC should not pass sensitive information related to Russia to Flynn,” Rice continued. “Comey replied ‘potentially.’”
“[Comey] added that he has no indication thus far that Flynn has passed classified information to Kislyak, but he noted that ‘the level of communication is unusual.’”

Left unsaid is why Comey felt it was “unusual” for Flynn, as Trump’s incoming national security advisor, to speak so early with his Russian counterpart.
The email, whose newly classified portions were obtained by The Federalist, appears to suggest that Obama and his inner circle were focused on targeting Flynn before the first Trump administration even began.
Mueller’s report concluded that the FBI should never have investigated allegations of collusion between Trump and Russia, and it found “no derogatory information” about Flynn apart from his guilty plea to lying under oath.
The U.S. Justice Department recently concluded in a report that Mueller’s FBI “ambushed” Flynn at the time, according to the outlet, which later formed the basis for a politically-motivated prosecution. His conviction was overturned by a presidential pardon shortly before Trump left office.
Handwritten notes from the investigation show that the FBI’s top counterintelligence official intended to “prosecute him or get him fired,” the report states.
The DOJ is currently in the process of dismissing all remaining charges against Flynn, who remains out of government. However, President Trump in March appointed him to a board that oversees standards and curriculum for the nation’s military academies.
