JUST IN: ICE Confirms Terrible News For Ilhan Omar
Last year, “Squad” Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) pledged that she is in office first and foremost to look out for the interests of her fellow Somali immigrants. She’s done a poor job of it, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Omar, who represents a deep-blue district in Minnesota, hails from Somalia and earned her citizenship only after arriving in the U.S. illegally. She has spun her story of hardship into a national profile that’s drawn attention to Minnesota’s burgeoning African Muslim community.
But in doing so, the fourth-term lawmaker may have unknowingly put her state’s Somali community in the crosshairs of ICE, which reported on Friday that nearly half of all Somali immigrants in greater Minneapolis are living in the country illegally, according to the NY Post.
The fraud, first uncovered in September, spans all types of arrangements — from fake marriages to forged death certificates and other “bizarre” schemes to deceive immigration authorities, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edley revealed.
More than 100,000 Somalis have settled around the city over the past three decades, and the federal government has known since at least 2008 that many of the claims by recent arrivals were contrived; that year, the State Department suspended a visa program for Somalis around Minneapolis after discovering that more than 80% of DNA tests confirmed that alleged family members bore no genetic bond whatsoever.

The results come after years of questions still lingering about Omar’s own arrival into the country with her first husband, who even others in the Somali community have suggested is her biological brother. According to one source, no Somali Muslim cleric would marry the two because of the deception, forcing Omar and the man to be married by a Christian pastor.
The “Squad” member was still married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi when she first ran for office in 2016, but her website at the time made no mention of him. Instead, she claimed that she was “religiously married,” but not legally married, to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the father of her children.
She divorced Elmi in 2017 and remarried Hirsi the following year. Two years later, the FBI launched an investigation into the marriage, but no charges were brought.
“She (Omar) said she needed to get papers for her brother to go to school. We all thought she was just getting papers to allow him to stay in the country,” a Somali community source told the Daily Mail earlier this year.
Scott W. Johnson of the NY Post has spoken with other Somali sources who claim that Elmi may be living as an openly gay man in London, according to recent social media posts.
Ben Goldfarb, a political consultant to Omar, has freely admitted that explaining her twisted marriages would only make the relationships more confusing. Omar herself has called the charges baseless.
After Juanita Broderick noted that Omar had remained silent for days after the report of her marriage emerged back in March, the Democrat lashed out.
“The only thing that is confirmed is your stupidity, hope that helps,” she wrote back.
