JUST IN: Kirk Shooter Appears To Confess To Assassination In Newly-Unearthed Discord Messages

Newly unearthed chatroom messages appear to implicate the 22-year-old college student who last week surrendered to authorities for the assassination of Charlie Kirk, records show.

Tyler Robinson appeared to confess to killing Kirk, 31, in last week’s shooting at a Utah college campus. Federal investigators have already confirmed that they located Robinson’s DNA on a screwdriver and firearm, both found near the site where the shot was taken.

“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all,” read a message from an account on Discord that authorities believe belongs to Robinson.

“It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”

The message was sent Thursday night, about two hours before Robinson’s father alerted authorities to take his son into custody.

A member of the group shared a screenshot of the confession with the Washington Post. The person spoke with the outlet on condition of anonymity. Additionally, Discord shared a copy of the message with law enforcement.

Discovery of the apparent admission is a reversal for the company, which previously stated that its internal investigation found “no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord.”

Robinson was arrested last week after a 33-hour manhunt. After allegedly shooting Kirk, he confessed to his father, who called the family’s pastor, who then called a member of law enforcement to take Robinson into custody.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated on Fox News on Monday that more than 20 individuals may have participated in the group chat where the admission was made. The Bureau is also investigating since-deleted social media posts from a small cohort of transgender activists who referenced the shooting up to a month before it occurred.

“Our investigation at the FBI is ongoing, and there are scores of people in this Discord chatroom. But we have to effectuate the legal process. We have to go out there with search warrants,” Patel said, “so that if prosecutors later want to use this evidence, it’s not tainted by being illegally obtained.”

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox revealed Sunday that Robinson was motivated by a “leftist ideology.” Robinson has previously been linked to his roommate, a transgender individual with whom he was in a romantic relationship.

Other officials claim Robinson had become “more political” in recent years, and family members who spoke with investigators recalled a recent conversation where he accused Kirk of spreading “hate” on college campuses.

“Charlie Kirk got shot,” one person wrote in the Discord chat shortly after the shooting, the Washington Post reported.

“I just saw the video holy s**t,” another replied, adding a half hour later, “Bro didn’t deserve to go out like that sad.”

The only response from Robinson’s account came the following day.

“I’m surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments,” the message, posted at 7:57 p.m. local time in Utah, stated. “Thanks for all the good times and laughs, you’ve all been so amazing, thank you all for everything.”
