JUST IN: Lara Trump Announces Record-Setting First Weekend At Revamped RNC

After laying off dozens of staff at the bloated Republican National Committee, new co-chair and former first daughter Lara Trump has announced that the GOP had its “largest fundraising weekend” since her father was still in the White House.

For three years, the RNC has suffered from anemic fundraising without former President Donald Trump, culminating in the resignation of former chair Ronna McDaniel and the hiring of Lara Trump and chair Michael Whatley, a Trump ally and head of the North Carolina Republican Party. With the Trump family now back in charge, it appears the RNC has turned a corner.

“I am proud to announce that last weekend the @GOP had the largest digital fundraising weekend since 2020. Much more to come…we are just getting started!” Lara Trump hinted on X.

In a follow-up interview with Newsmax flagged by the Post Millennial, Lara Trump said, “I think that the change in leadership at the RNC has really inspired a lot of people to give. This past weekend we had our best fundraising weekend since 2020… that tells you all you need to know.”

She added, “I think the change in leadership at the RNC has really inspired a lot of people to give. People are very confident in the team. I personally wrote an email this morning to send out to people all across this country asking for donations.”

“People understand, this is a must-win election and I think they’re very confident in the team we now have between myself as co-chair and Michael Whatley as chairman.”

On Tuesday the RNC announced it was laying off more than 60 staffers across its digital, communications, and political departments in a bid to shed staff and reorient its approach toward aggressive fundraising in an election year. With President Trump now clinching enough delegates to secure the GOP’s nomination, his campaign will effectively merge with the RNC to streamline all internal and external processes and outreach.

Whatley and Lara Trump have been appointed in part due to their steadfast support for election integrity efforts, a cause dear to President Trump and one shared by the new head of the RNC legal department, Christina Bobb, who will head up the RNC’s efforts on election integrity through the 2024 elections.

Speaking about “legal ballot harvesting” and the RNC’s “Bank Your Vote” effort to encourage more mail-in balloting among Republicans, Lara Trump said both will pay dividends in this year’s elections.

“We’ve been playing checkers, and the Democrats have been playing chess. Unfortunately, we don’t have one day of voting, we don’t have paper ballots, we don’t have voter ID everywhere. So we have to play the hand that we’re dealt,” said Lara Trump.

This is “something that has never been done by the RNC, but I can promise you will be a huge part of what we’re planning to do.”

“And then come Election Day, and you’ll see that, I think, it’s not just about having poll watchers. It’s about having trained poll watchers and lawyers at locations around the country as necessary. And these are people who will be trained and able to physically count how many ballots are coming in. And how many ballots are going out,” she added.
