JUST IN: Letitia James Accused Of Harboring ‘Fugitive’ In Virginia Home
North Carolina probation authorities are searching for a relative of New York Attorney General Letitia James who might be holing up at the Democrat’s “primary” residence listed in a federal investigation into alleged mortgage fraud.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking the whereabouts of Nikia Monique Thompson, James’ adult niece, who is wanted for violating the terms of her parole. The Gateway Pundit reports that activity around James’s Norfolk, Virginia, home suggests Thompson has been living there for some time.
If Thompson is located at the property, James may face criminal prosecution for harboring a fugitive if she knowingly provided her niece with a place to stay. Charges would also cover interstate flight, which carries a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.
In April, federal mortgage authorities referred James for criminal prosecution after she listed the Virginia property as her primary residence, an impossible declaration since New York law requires the elected Democrat to live in the state she represents. When first challenged about the paperwork, James cited her niece and other family members who needed the property for a place to live.
“In reality, the power of attorney was never used to determine my eligibility for a mortgage for my niece for a home in the state of Virginia,” James said at the time. “My niece has children, and because I’m a good aunt, I wanted her to have a home.”

However, the explanation is misleading given Thompson’s 20-year history as a criminal. She has been convicted in Virginia and North Carolina on multiple charges including contributing to delinquency of a minor, abuse of child, possession of burglary tools, third degree larceny, assault and battery, trespassing, shoplifting, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, and even malicious conduct while incarcerated, according to the Gateway Pundit.
On her LinkedIn page, Thompson thanked her aunt for their work together.
“Been working with Ms James for years from council member to Public advocate to Attorney General,” she wrote. The page also lists Elect Letitia James for Attorney General as an employer in 2018, and Thompson claims to have worked at the Brooklyn Board of Elections between 2013 and 2016.
Posts on Thompson’s Facebook page purport to show her living at the Virginia property.
In April, reporters with the Daily Caller visited the Virginia property where they were told off by a woman on the porch.
“Goodbye, you’re trespassing,” said the woman, whose face was blurred out of the clip.
