Trump Prosecutor Nathan Wade Admits To Meeting With White House
Nathan Wade, the scandalous ex-lover of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, testified in October that the power couple were keeping President Joe Biden’s White House in the loop about their prosecution of President-elect Donald Trump even as they denied doing so and while Biden ran for reelection against him.
The bombshell disclosure came as part of Wade’s testimony before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, which under Republicans, has sought to expose all efforts by Willis, a Democrat, to tie a politically-motivated case against Trump to any efforts to benefit Biden and by extension,, Vice President Kamala Harris. Although the election interference case is all but dead following Trump’s victorious election, its legal entanglements for Willis are far from over: she faces state and federal probes investigating whether she abused her power or office’s resources by pursuing charges against Trump and 18th alleged co-conspirators.

News of Wade’s admission was reported by Fox News and flagged on X by Alina Habba, President-elect Trump’s top attorney, who argued in court that the Republican is innocent of interfering with Georgia’s 2020 election results. According to the report, the former prosecutor met with White House staff “on several occasions while working on the investigation.” He was also instructed to brush up on his knowledge of racketeering laws, suggesting Willis was informing the White House that she was prepared to charge Trump with running a criminal enterprise by challenging the results of the state’s election.

The news is vindication for Ashleigh Merchant, the attorney for a co-defendant who, in March, first suggested that Willis was meeting with Vice President Harris to keep the White House abreast of updates in the case. According to a White House guest list presented during a Georgia Senate hearing, Merchant described how Willis visited on February 28th, 2023, and would have gone through extensive screening to secure a meeting with Harris. “My understanding is it’s highly regulated, who can access the White House, so you have to apply in person or apply ahead of time,” Merchant said, adding that it was an open record she obtained indicating Willis and Harris met that day. Asked if the meeting took place before the indictment of Trump, Merchant replied, “Yes.”
“Any further explanation of why Ms. Willis was meeting with the vice president of the United States?” the questioning attorney asked. “No,” Merchant replied.
Since resigning from his post, Wade has gone public with denials that he was hired by Willis because he was her romantic partner at the time. Shortly before he testified before the Judiciary Committee, Willis lost her bid to keep Wade from testifying after she sent a letter arguing doing so would force him to “divulge confidential information” and “violate State Bar of Georgia rules that govern conduct of attorneys.” Willis also suggested he may be disbarred for cooperating.
Former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, who is representing Wade, told reporters following the hearing that his client fully cooperated. “We gave our testimony, cooperated, and were thorough,” Barnes said, Newsweek reported. Asked if he felt it was an “effective meeting,” Barnes replied, “We answered questions.” The appearance amounted to a dramatic conclusion after Wade was on the lam for days before being served a subpoena and after another attorney reneged on a promise to deliver Wade for voluntary testimony in September.
