JUST IN: New Declassified Documents Expose FBI’s Clinton Email Cover-Up

A U.S. Justice Department watchdog concluded on Monday that the FBI failed to thoroughly investigate Hillary Clinton’s missing emails during the 2016 election, undercutting the former secretary of state’s claim that she has been exonerated.

About 30,000 missing emails from Clinton’s State Department email account became a flashpoint in her campaign against President Donald Trump, who alleged that she had purposely deleted them to hide some form of wrongdoing.

In a new report, the DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General “shows the FBI obtained thumb drives from a source during the Clinton investigation” but failed to investigate their contents, according to U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

“[T]hen-FBI Director James Comey, as well as then-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and others, failed to perform additional, targeted searches of the drives, even though they contained information relevant to the inquiry,” Grassley added in a statement.

“I warned years ago that the Clinton investigation failed to hit the mark, and I’m grateful the American people can finally see the facts for themselves,” he continued. “After nearly a decade in the shadows, this information is now coming to light thanks to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel’s dedicated efforts to fulfill my congressional request. I appreciate their ongoing commitment to transparency and strongly urge them to continue to fully review this matter, including its national security impact.”

The thumb drives given to the FBI were ultimately never opened, the annex reveals, contrary to recommendations drafted at the time in an FBI memo. The OIG concluded that the drives should have been immediately opened to probe for influence by foreign adversaries, but were not.

Another bombshell revelation from the OIG includes evidence of a discussion between Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), head of the Democratic National Committee at the time, and two different individuals from the Soros Open Society Foundations. As part of its investigation, the FBI reportedly discovered the trio discussing efforts by the Clinton campaign to scuttle the probe and protect her candidacy.

“The DOJ OIG Clinton annex shows Comey, McCabe and Strzok, among others, did not make serious investigative efforts to determine the veracity, or lack thereof, regarding the intelligence reports,” Grassley’s office states.

Comey exonerated Clinton in July 2016, a lifeline thrown to the Democratic candidate as she struggled to offer a candid explanation of how her emails went missing, what they contained, and why she was performing official business inside her personal email account at times. Grassley has previously claimed that Comey declared Clinton innocent even before interviewing her.

Later that month, Comey launched “Crossfire Hurricane,” a joint investigation by the FBI and CIA into allegations that President Trump was working with Russian forces to influence the election. The former FBI director is now on the receiving end of an investigation into his activities during that time, including whether he pursued “Crossfire Hurricane” despite learning that Russia had minimal ability to influence the election and no connection to Trump’s orbit.
