JUST IN: New Poll Shows Americans Strongly Behind Trump On Voter ID, Mixed On Other Issues

One year into his second term, President Donald Trump is racking up strong support on several of the issues that matter most to voters, even as the country remains politically divided.

Election integrity stands out as a clear winner for Trump one year into his second term. Nearly three-quarters of voters back a nationwide requirement for government-issued photo ID, according to a Quantus Insights national survey of 1,000 registered voters conducted Jan. 20–22, 2026. Support spans Republicans, independents, and a substantial share of Democrats, making it one of the most broadly supported policies measured in the poll.

Housing policy shows a similar trend. Nearly two-thirds of voters, 63.8%, support banning large institutional investors from buying up single-family homes. The idea draws backing across party lines and age groups, tapping into widespread frustration over affordability and Wall Street’s growing footprint in local neighborhoods. Opposition remains relatively small.

On core domestic issues, the numbers suggest voters are often closer to Trump’s policy instincts than to Washington’s status quo. Enforcement, limits, and basic guardrails consistently outperform looser approaches that have dominated in recent years.

Foreign policy produces sharper splits, but even there, Trump sees meaningful backing. About 44.8% approve of U.S. military action in Venezuela that led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro, while 38.9% disapprove and 16.4% remain unsure. Support among Republicans is strong, and independents are divided, with uncertainty rivaling both approval and opposition.

When the Venezuela operation is framed as part of a broader effort to push back against China, Iran, and Russia in the Western Hemisphere, opinion remains mixed, with strong support and strong opposition nearly even and a large share of voters undecided.

Potential U.S. involvement in Iran follows the same pattern. More voters support aiding protesters than oppose it, though roughly one in five remain unsure, reflecting lingering reluctance about deeper entanglements abroad. Even economic considerations, such as expanded U.S. access to Venezuelan oil and gas, draw nearly identical levels of strong approval and strong disapproval.

Overall, the survey shows voters rewarding specific actions and policies, particularly on elections, housing, and enforcement, while remaining skeptical of open-ended foreign commitments.

Trump’s overall job approval stands at 43.5%, with 51.6% disapproving and fewer than 5% undecided. The takeaway from the poll is straightforward: Trump’s policy agenda continues to draw majority support on key issues, even as the electorate keeps a tight leash on the presidency itself.
