JUST IN: New Press Secretary Drops Bombshell About High-Profile Trump Official
Katie Zacharia wasted little time making news from the White House podium Tuesday, revealing at her first briefing that President Donald Trump had asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece.
“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well,” Zacharia said.
The announcement followed mounting scrutiny of Guilfoyle’s financial dealings, including a Wall Street Journal report alleging she sought $100,000 from a Trump donor to cover personal credit card debt before her Senate confirmation.
Trump had signaled Monday that Guilfoyle’s job was in jeopardy, telling reporters he was considering removing her from the diplomatic post. Guilfoyle’s lawyers have denied wrongdoing, saying payments she sought were tied to legitimate services provided before her appointment.
For Zacharia, the personnel news capped an introduction that began with a message of gratitude to the president.
The new press secretary said she was honored to serve Trump and had wanted to work for him “for a long time.”
“I’m thrilled to officially be a part of this incredible journey together,” Zacharia said.

She also pointed to Trump’s Monday night rally in Youngstown, Ohio, and promoted his administration’s economic record as Republicans head into the final weeks before the midterm elections.
Tuesday marked Zacharia’s first briefing, though she officially started the job Monday. She succeeds Karoline Leavitt, who left the White House in August.
Trump announced Zacharia’s selection Friday. Before taking over the podium, she worked as a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social. She also had a brief stint as a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson and appeared as a commentator on Fox News and Newsmax.
