JUST IN: New York Post Issues Presidential Endorsement

As Americans brace for one of the most pivotal elections in recent history, the New York Post has weighed in with a decisive message. Framing this November’s contest as a choice between two starkly different futures, the newspaper has taken a clear stance on the issues it considers most vital for the country: border security, economic growth, law enforcement, and parental rights in education.

In a lengthy editorial published on Friday, the Post outlined its vision for a “thriving, low-tax economy,” a return to stricter immigration controls, and policies that restore America’s strength on the global stage. The publication also said that the 2024 race will have lasting consequences, shaping the nation’s trajectory for decades.

Then, the editorial makes it clear: Donald Trump is the New York Post’s choice for president. “Only one candidate can credibly claim to lead us there. Donald Trump.”

Their editorial board wrote, “If history is any guide, the track records of the last two administrations provide a clearly comparable record. To borrow from Ronald Reagan’s famous ‘Are you better off now than you were four years ago?’: Voters should ask themselves if they were better off under Trump or Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

“His opponents focus on how Trump’s administration was marked by a relentless soap opera of high drama and chaos — much of which they fueled. And yes, many find him offensive — and we say fair enough: He can be ridiculously hyperbolic.” The post continued, “But before COVID wreaked havoc across the globe, Trump’s first-term results were paychecks that grew markedly faster than inflation, the lowest unemployment in 50 years, a secure border and peace overseas.”

But beyond policy positions, the endorsement carries a pointed criticism of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, describing her platform as a continuation of “progressive largesse” that the Post said has led to inflation, weakened law enforcement, and increased cultural divisions. Harris’s approach, the editorial suggests, would be a further shift leftward, accelerating what the Post describes as a “progressive hurricane ripping through the fabric of American society.”

“Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has rightly been criticized as an underqualified political lightweight because she refuses to answer almost any question about the last four years or reveal any detailed future policy plans. What may also be just as true is that she doesn’t want the American people to know the full scale of her radical plans, because it would scare them off. Indeed, any close study of her record shows it to be that of a San Francisco progressive.”

For Trump, this endorsement serves as a significant boost in a race marked by tight polls and fervent campaigns from both sides. As voters prepare to head to the polls, the Post’s endorsement crystallizes its argument for a path forward, calling Trump the “right choice” to lead America into the future.

In 2016, the Post endorsed Trump for the Republican primary, marking a significant backing for the political outsider in a crowded field. The endorsement praised Trump’s business experience, assertiveness, and strong stance on immigration and national security, highlighting him as a candidate capable of shaking up the Washington establishment. Despite some reservations, the paper ultimately viewed Trump as a strong option for Republican voters seeking significant change.

In 2020, the New York Post once again endorsed Trump for re-election, citing his administration’s economic policies, tax cuts, deregulation efforts, and handling of international affairs, including the Abraham Accords. The Post deemed him the better choice over Joe Biden, citing concerns about the Democratic Party’s shift toward progressive policies.
