JUST IN: Obama Lashes Out As ‘Treason’ Investigation Ramps Up
Former President Barack Obama issued a rare public statement Tuesday in order to deny the explosive conduct laid out in a trove of recently declassified documents relating to the Russian collusion hoax, which President Donald Trump has referred to as “treasonous.”
While speaking from the White House Tuesday, President Trump described Obama as the “ringleader” of the plot to green light the bogus investigation that significantly hampered his first term in office. The recently declassified documents confirm that senior intelligence officials, including then-CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James Comey, knew that Russia did not materially affect the 2016 election or benefit Trump’s campaign in any way, though they still authorized the investigation anyway.
“Based on what I read, and I read pretty much what you read, it would be President Obama. He started it,” Trump told reporters. “And Biden was there with him and Comey was there and [former DNI director James] Clapper, the whole group was there. Brennan. They were all there in a room, right here, this was the room.”
He then said, “If you look at those papers, they have him stone-cold and it was President Obama. It wasn’t lots of people all over the place, it was them, too. But the leader of the gang was President Obama, Barack Hussein Obama, have you heard of him?”
“He’s guilty, it’s not a question,” President Trump continued. “This was treason, this was every word you can think of.”
About two hours after the Trump’s statement, Obama put out a rare response to President Trump in order to deny the allegations. “Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” Obama spokesman Patrick Rodenbush said in a statement. “But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one.”
“These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction,” Obama’s spokesman continued. “Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes.”
He added: “These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.”
The statement comes after DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard declassified documents revealing “overwhelming evidence” that laid out how outgoing President Obama’s team worked to manufacture the Russian collusion hoax after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The recently declassified memo thoroughly debunks congressional testimony from Comey and Brennan, both of whom told lawmakers that the debunked Steele Dossier did not serve as the basis for the probe.
They also claimed that they had reason to believe Russia successfully helped President Trump get elected, which was a total lie.
The document’s authors told then-President Barack Obama they had concluded “Russian and criminal actors did not impact recent US election results by conducting malicious cyber activities against election infrastructure.” The authors continued, “Criminal activity also failed to reach the scale and sophistication necessary to change election outcomes.”
Despite this, intelligence officials green-lit the bogus Russian collusion investigation that was used to largely hamstring President Trump’s first term. The hoax also had a significant outcome on the 2018 midterm elections, polls from the time found.
“It lays out, these over 100 documents that you’re referencing, that I declassified and released, spells out in great detail exactly what happens when you have some of the most powerful people in our country directly leading at the helm, President Obama and his senior-most national security cabinet, James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, and Susan Rice and others, essentially making a very intentional decision to create this manufactured, politicized piece of intelligence with the objective of subverting the will of the American people,” Gabbard said during a recent interview with Fox News.
