The Ohio Republican Party has officially endorsed former President Donald J. Trump for the 2024 presidential election. The endorsement, announced on Friday, marks a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the next presidential race, signaling more and more support for Trump within the Republican establishment.
Alex M. Triantafilou, the Chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, praised President Trump’s dedication to the people of Ohio, highlighting his efforts to champion the state’s workers, businesses, and families.
“President Trump has proven time and again that despite the unhinged and relentless attacks from the radical left, he will never give up on fighting for Ohio’s workers, business and families,” said Triantafilou. “His unapologetic leadership and commitment to putting America First is exactly what we need to reverse course from the failed policies of Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown.”
The Ohio GOP’s endorsement comes as a strong testament to Trump’s record, particularly in areas such as international peace agreements, trade policy renegotiations, and strides towards American energy independence.
Triantafilou pointed towards the importance of rallying the GOP around a clear leader to focus on the upcoming challenges, including reclaiming the White House and gaining control of the U.S. Senate.

“Whether it is brokering peace deals, renegotiating bad trade policies, or making America energy independent, President Trump knows how to get things done,” Triantafilou said. “The sooner Republicans can coalesce around the clear choice at the top of the ticket, the sooner we can focus on the challenge of taking back the White House, flipping the U.S. Senate, and getting our country back on track.”
“While we appreciate all of the Republican candidates who are passionately making their case to the American people, it is clear that President Trump is the right choice in this moment.”
Ohio holds a crucial position in U.S. presidential elections, primarily due to its status as a swing state. The unpredictability of Ohio’s voting pattern has made it a focus for presidential campaigns in recent years.
The state has been favorable to Trump in his past two elections and hasn’t voted blue since Barrack Obama in 2012. Four year later, Trump won Ohio by a margin of 8 points. Ohio was considered a leaning Republican state at that time, partly due to Trump’s appeal to blue-collar voters in the Rust Belt. In 2020 Trump won Ohio again, this time with 53% of the vote compared to Joe Biden’s 45%. He hopes to find the same success in 2024.
A recent Emerson College poll has indicated that 50% of voters in Ohio would choose Trump over Joe Biden if the 2024 presidential election were held today. The survey, which involved 1,000 registered voters, revealed that Trump’s support in Ohio is significant, although it may not be as robust as it was in 2020.
With the Ohio Republican Party’s backing, Trump’s campaign gains a significant boost, potentially influencing other swing state parties and Republican voters nationwide. Notably, back in February Trump had visited East Palestine to help with the delivery of numerous truckloads of bottled water and food to the affected areas. Joe Biden waited weeks to visit.
