Search and rescue operations are underway after two helicopters collided mid-air in southeastern New Jersey on Sunday morning.

The collision occurred near Hammonton, Atlantic County, New Jersey, in the area of 100 Basin Road, close to the intersection of White Horse Pike and Route 206, according to a report from Channel 2 Now.

Two helicopters reportedly collided mid-air, causing both to crash. One helicopter was fully engulfed in flames, while the other is believed to have crashed in a nearby wooded area. The location of the downed helicopter has complicated rescue efforts, leading to scant details early on.

At least one fatality has been confirmed, while at least one other victim was reportedly evacuated from the scene in critical condition. The total number of people aboard both helicopters, their identities, and additional casualties remain unconfirmed as of this report.

Multiple videos have surfaced showing one helicopter spinning out of control and spiraling downward after the collision, with heavy smoke and flames visible at the scene. Eyewitness footage from nearby areas, including a Tractor Supply parking lot, captured the aftermath.

The cause of the mid-air collision is unknown at this time. No official information has been released on the types of helicopters, their operators, or the purpose of the flights as of this report.

This is a developing story. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
