JUST IN: Secret Service Increases Security Presence At Mar-A-Lago
The U.S. Secret Service is increasing its security posture around Mar-a-Lago and other federally protected locations as tensions rise following the major U.S.–Israeli military offensive against Iran.
In a statement released Saturday, the agency confirmed it is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East and coordinating with federal and local law enforcement partners.
“The U.S. Secret Service is actively monitoring the situation in Iran and remains in close coordination with our federal and local partners,” the agency said. “The agency’s protective model is designed to be adaptable to meet the needs of the current security environment and ensure the continued safety of our protectees, protective sites, and the surrounding communities.”
The announcement comes after the dramatic escalation in hostilities on Saturday, when the United States and Israel launched a coordinated strike campaign targeting Iranian military and leadership sites. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed in the initial wave of strikes.
The developments have triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Iran against U.S. and Israeli targets in the region, heightening concerns about potential spillover effects or threats to U.S. interests at home.
While the Secret Service declined to discuss specific protective measures for operational security reasons, officials indicated that the public may notice a heightened law enforcement presence near locations under federal protection, including private residences and properties associated with current and former officials.
That includes Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate of President Donald Trump, which is regularly protected by the Secret Service.
“While we do not discuss our specific protective measures for operational security reasons, the public may notice an increased law enforcement and federal presence around U.S. Secret Service protected sites,” the agency stated. “Any temporary traffic or pedestrian impacts will be communicated by our local law enforcement partners.”
The statement did not cite any specific or credible threats but emphasized that the agency’s security model is designed to adapt quickly in response to changing global conditions.
The conflict has already led to widespread explosions across Iran, including in Tehran and other major cities, along with reported civilian casualties in southern regions. Iran has vowed retaliation, and exchanges of missile fire have continued across parts of the Middle East.
U.S. officials have not indicated any direct domestic threat tied to the overseas operations. However, federal agencies traditionally heighten protective measures during periods of geopolitical instability, particularly when high-profile U.S. leaders or former leaders are involved in military decision-making.
The Secret Service concluded its statement by thanking the public for its cooperation and urging vigilance.
“As always, if something appears unusual or concerning, individuals are encouraged to report it to law enforcement.”
