JUST IN: Top Pollster Debunks Media Narratives, Reveals Latest Trump Approval Numbers

Despite some media criticism and legal skirmishes, President Donald Trump is holding firm with the American electorate. According to a new national survey from Quantus Insights, Trump’s approval rating stands at a net positive +3 (49.4% approve/46.4% disapprove), signaling a solid base of support as he enters the spring of his second term.

The poll, conducted March 28 among 1,000 registered voters, shows Trump’s favorability also in the black at +1 net (49.2% favorable/48.4% unfavorable). While the numbers are tight, they run counter to dominant media narratives portraying the administration as faltering.

Trump is also outperforming his standing in several RealClearPolitics polling averages, particularly in approval and economic confidence. While his handling of the economy is slightly underwater (46.7% approve / 49.6% disapprove), the -2.9 net rating still places him 2.5 points ahead of broader polling aggregates.

The poll’s findings challenge the perception of a weakening presidency. Despite the political turbulence, the Trump-Vance administration remains competitive across key demographic groups and issue areas.

Vice President J.D. Vance, still establishing his national profile, has a -1.3 net favorability rating (45.4% favorable / 46.7% unfavorable). But among Republicans, his numbers are sky-high—88% favorable—and he enjoys a majority favorable rating with non-college voters (50%), a crucial bloc in Trump’s coalition.

On the broader mood of the country, voters remain wary. Just 44.2% believe the country is on the right track, compared to 49.1% who say it’s headed the wrong way. While pessimism still outweighs optimism, the gap has narrowed compared to prior surveys—a sign that confidence in the administration may be inching upward.

US Vice President JD Vance speaks with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson as joint session of Congress in Washington, DC, on March 4, 2025.

Looking ahead to 2026, the generic congressional ballot favors Republicans by a slim margin: 46.3% to 45.4%. That represents a slight shift toward Democrats since last month, but the GOP remains narrowly ahead.

The poll arrives at a moment when the administration is aggressively pushing forward on its agenda. From sweeping executive actions on immigration and voting integrity to trade policies aimed at reshaping global commerce, Trump has wasted no time flexing executive muscle.

Among the administration’s key moves:

  • Reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy
  • Ordering mass deportation planning, including for some student visa holders
  • Mandating proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections
  • Announcing new tariffs on imported vehicles, including from allies like Canada

In a cultural pivot, Trump tapped Vance to lead efforts to restore historical monuments and revamp the Smithsonian, aiming to eliminate “anti-American” content in federal institutions.

As of now, the data suggest Trump’s political footing remains stronger than the headlines imply. With net-positive approval and favorability, plus a resilient Republican edge heading into 2026, the base appears intact—even if the road ahead remains turbulent.
