With just one week left until the 2024 General Election, the Arizona Senate race has taken a dramatic turn. Recent polling from Data Orbital shows Republican Kari Lake narrowly ahead in the heated battle for the U.S. Senate in Arizona. The poll shows s a tight contest as Lake leads Democrat Ruben Gallego by a slim margin—45.2% to 44.5%.

The results also suggest that third-party candidates could play a pivotal role in the race, with Green Party candidate Eduardo Quintana earning 1.6% support. Meanwhile, 8.6% of voters remain undecided, leaving plenty of room for last-minute shifts. Lake’s slight edge mirrors Republican momentum in Arizona.

In the state’s presidential race, former President Donald Trump has expanded his lead over Vice President Kamala Harris, now standing at 49.7% to 41.9%. The strong performance by Trump at the top of the ticket could benefit Lake as Election Day nears.

“With early voting in full swing and a week until election day, former President Donald Trump looks to be in a commanding position to win the state of Arizona,” said pollster George Khalaf. “Republican nominee Kari Lake also looks to have closed the gap with Democratic nominee Congressman Ruben Gallego in the US Senate race. It all comes down to what the final electoral makeup looks like when voting ends at 7:00 PM on November 5th.”

Lake is known for her conservative policies, including strict immigration enforcement, support for law enforcement, and emphasis on election integrity. She has been endorsed by former President Trump. Recently, during a campaign event, former President Bill Clinton described Lake as “physically attractive,” which sparked discussions about the appropriateness of such remarks in politics.

In the 2022 midterms, Democrats managed to secure both the U.S. Senate and governor’s races in the state. Incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly won re-election to the U.S. Senate, defeating Republican Blake Masters with 51.4% of the vote to Masters’ 46.5%. The victory was critical for Democrats, contributing to their slim majority in the Senate. The governor’s race was equally tight, with Democrat Katie Hobbs narrowly defeating Republican Kari Lake by a margin of 50.3% to 49.6%.

In the presidential race, Joe Biden narrowly flipped Arizona blue, winning 49.4% of the vote compared to Donald Trump’s 49.1%. This marked the first time since 1996 that a Democrat won Arizona’s electoral votes and was a crucial part of Biden’s path to victory. Additionally, Mark Kelly won the U.S. Senate special election, defeating Republican Martha McSally with 51.2% of the vote. Kelly’s victory completed the late John McCain’s term and marked a major pickup for Democrats in a state once dominated by Republicans.

As the 2024 general election approaches, Arizona has become a focal point in national politics. Stay tuned for more developments as the 2024 General Election draws near.
