JUST IN: Trump Launches ‘Woke Purge’ Of U.S. Military

President Donald Trump announced on Monday the immediate dismissal of the Boards of Visitors for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard academies. This is part of his larger initiative to eliminate “woke” ideology within the U.S. military.

“Our Service Academies have been infiltrated by Woke Leftist Ideologues over the last four years,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I have ordered the immediate dismissal of the Board of Visitors for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.”

“We will have the strongest Military in History, and that begins by appointing new individuals to these Boards. We must make the Military Academies GREAT AGAIN!” Trump finished.

The Board of Visitors for each service academy functions as an oversight committee, providing independent advice and recommendations to the President, Secretary of Defense, and Congress regarding the academy’s curriculum, morale, and overall effectiveness. Members typically include lawmakers, retired military officers, and civilian leaders who review policies and ensure the academies remain aligned with national defense objectives.

Under the Biden administration, these boards included appointees from across the political spectrum, some of whom had advocated for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Trump’s move effectively purges Biden-era influences and sets the stage for new appointments that are more in line with his administration’s priorities.

The president has long criticized the politicization of the military under Democratic leadership, particularly the implementation of DEI training, gender policies, and left-wing social agendas. During his first term, Trump clashed with military leadership over ideological differences, particularly regarding the role of social policies within the armed forces.

With the 2024 election now behind him, Trump has wasted no time implementing policies that reflect his campaign promises. The restructuring of these boards is expected to be just one of many moves aimed at reshaping the military under his leadership.

His administration has prioritized military readiness and strength over what he often described as distractions from combat effectiveness. The latest move signals a return to that focus, aiming to restore what he sees as traditional military values.

Under Trump’s new directive, the president appoints six members, the vice president appoints three, the Speaker of the House appoints four, while the Senate and House Armed Services Committees each designate one member. Notably, Trump’s reshuffling has impacted individuals such as former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, a presidential appointee to the US Military Academy, and John S. McCain IV, appointed to the US Naval Academy and son of the late Senator John McCain from Arizona.

The shake-up extends beyond personnel changes, reflecting deeper political tensions over educational content within military academies. Republican lawmakers have voiced concerns about the incorporation of woke literature into academic curriculums, a sentiment that has found some resonance in administrative actions.

The Washington Post recently reported that the Defense Department has started to limit access to certain books within its educational systems, signaling a broader campaign to influence educational materials and the ideological framework of military training.

For now, the academies remain under temporary oversight as the administration works swiftly to install new board members who will align with Trump’s vision of a more formidable and apolitical U.S. military.
