JUST IN: Trump Poised For Huge Victory In $20B Suit Over ’60 Minutes’ Edits

The individual mediating President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against Paramount and CBS News is reported to have proposed a settlement to bring the legal battle to an end. Both legal teams were presented with the proposal on Wednesday to settle the $20 billion lawsuit for $20 million.

If the deal is accepted, Paramount would make a $17 million donation to the Trump Presidential Foundation or a museum. This would be in addition to paying millions of dollars in legal fees and public service announcements on all Paramount-owned networks to fight back against antisemitism.

Trump shot down a previous settlement offer made by Paramount for $15 million just last month. The president rejected the offer, saying he sought, at a minimum, a $25 million payout and an apology.

However, Paramount “isn’t prepared” to make an apology.

“President Trump is committed to holding those who traffic in fake news, hoaxes, and lies to account,” Trump lawyer Ed Paltzik said to Fox News Digital in a statement. “CBS and Paramount targeted the President in an attempt to harm his reputation while committing the worst kind of election interference and fraud in the closing days of the most important presidential election in history. President Trump will pursue this vital matter to its just and rightful conclusion.”

Last October, President Trump filed a lawsuit against CBS News and Paramount for a total of $20 billion in damages over allegations of election interference over an edited “60 Minutes” interview with failed Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Kamala Harris, which aired just a few short weeks before the election.

Fox News is reporting that the lawsuit levels accusations at CBS News of deceitfully editing the exchange on the program after correspondent Bill Whitaker asked her why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t “listening” to the Biden administration.

The article then says that Harris was the butt of jokes and mockery for delivering a “word salad” answer, which aired in a preview aired on “Face the Nation.” Claims have been made that the interview was edited in order to protect her from the backlash for her answer.

“The raw transcript and footage released earlier this year by the FCC showed that both sets of Harris’s comments came from the same response, but CBS News had aired only the first half of her response in the ‘Face the Nation’ preview clip and aired the second half during the primetime special. CBS News has denied any wrongdoing and stands by the broadcast and its reporting.

Shari Redstone, Paramount’s controlling shareholder who recused herself from settlement discussions in February, made clear that she wanted to settle Trump’s lawsuit in hopes of clearing the pathway for Paramount’s multibillion-dollar planned merger with Skydance Media, which needs approval from the Trump administration’s FCC.”

In recent months, the newsroom at CBS has been in turmoil as Redstone has made efforts to monitor the network’s reporting on President Trump until the merger can be officially closed. This did not sit well with many on the news team, several of whom decided to resign from the company.

One such individual is executive producer Bill Owens. Owens said that due to the network’s “keeping tabs,” he could no longer maintain editorial independence. He resigned in April. CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon followed suit in May.
